Day 191 | A boy, a dog, and a goat walk into a...
Who: Calem and YOU!
Open: Like a BOOK
When: Day 191!
Where: Near the entrance to Bastion
Format: Initial post is prose but if you'd prefer brackets I'll follow format!
What: After making his way to Bastion from the Skyway, Calem and his Pokemon try and make sense of things
Calem had NO idea what was going on. Waking up in some strange place with no memory of how he got there... well it wasn't what one would call normal by any means. Especially when said strange place seemed to involve a whole lot of small islands irrationally floating about. His first concern was his pokemon however, and he immediately let his Lucario out of his ball. Much to his relief his trusted friend was alright and seemed to confirm that there was nothing wrong with his other pokemon's auras either. There was a light in the distance, though it wasn't TOO far. Without any better ideas he decided to make his way there in hopes it was some kind of civilization.
So some time later a tall young man rides through the entrance of Bastion on what appears to be a very large leafy goat, with a bipedal blue dog sitting behind him. Because Calem COULD have walked yes but all those floating islands just seamed really unsafe. The smart choice was to let his Gogoat take the lead. He was already skilled at traversing dangerous terrain, hopping from rock to rock, AND getting over those small ledges that were the bane of every trainer. It was really much safer this way. Plus even in circumstances like this he liked arriving to new places in style. And riding in atop a freshly pruned Gogoat with a colorful brand new saddle was just about as classy as you could get.
Though there WERE other concerning things to think about of course. He caught glimpses of unfamiliar creatures on his way here and was busy looking through his pokedex as Gogoat plodded onward. He couldn't find any entries that looked like what he'd seen though. With a sigh he closed the holographic device and scanned the area for someone with some answers.
"Pardon me!" he called out to someone passing by, sliding off his mount in the process (it was only polite), though Lucario remained seated up there, "Could you tell me where the nearest pokemon center is? Or... at least where I am?"
Honestly Calem was hoping for 'Dream'. Floating Islands couldn't be normal... as fascinating as they were.
Later on in the day he might be found wandering around Bastion, trying to get a feel of the lay of the town and come to terms with things, his Lucario marching loyally beside him. The observant might even notice the unusual looking key ring that was hooked onto Calem's bag. A key ring that seemed to have a mind of her own as she jingled energetically any anyone who passed by.

He means well. Honest he does. Lucario just sighs as he often does and Klefki jingles up a greeting. Though something about what he's said confused him and his smile falters just a bit.
"What do you mean you've been here a while though?" he asks, a little concerned, "I saw you not that long ago."

"It... apparently was a weapon. Even more destructive than the one... I made. There are people from different worlds here... many which have never heard of Pokemon." It weirds him out too, honestly. Eevee looks up at Calem, wiggling a bit. 'Vrii!'

That was kind of a different topic though. "In any case. Many different worlds were destroyed by the Calamity. It... we've found pieces of our worlds out there, but very few survivors."
no subject
Because that meant that everything he did to stop Team Flare was...
"There must be some way to reverse it though, right? Or fix the damage?"
Though it's not exactly like a destroyed world is like a jigsaw puzzle you can just piece back together if someone messes it up.

Eevee wiggles in AZ's jacket and he carefully pulls her out, setting her down. She runs straight to Gogoat and bounds up on her hind legs, trying to get him to play. "Be nice..." The giant trainer smiles a little fondly.
"We're doing what we can to improve things. The shards that you probably saw on your way in - they're small and light blue - help us make more things here. We take them to the Monument in the middle of the Bastion - that's this place - and it produces things. I'm not sure how. There's also larger cores that we find occasionally which create bigger changes."

"I did see some along the way yes," he nodded in agreement, looking thoughtful, "I didn't know what they were so I didn't want to get too close... Maybe there's one of these 'cores' out there big enough to restore the world?"
Calem wished Xerneas was on his active team when all this happened. A pokemon so strongly linked to the power of life... surely it would have been able to do a tremendous amount of good in a situation like this.

Eevee yips happily and attempts to flop herself on Gogoat's head. Yay, friend! New friends are great!

"Yveltal? What that got to do with the weapon?" he as curiously, "I mean I've read legends about how it's a force of destruction but..."
He's pretty sure he'd remember seeing it.
Gogoat meanwhile has resigned himself to letting Eevee fling herself at his head. It's not as if such a tiny fluff can put a dent in him or anything!

AZ's shoulders slump suddenly. Ah. That must be it. He recalls his conversation with Rin about people from worlds that are close, but not the same.
"I see. Sometimes people arrive here from worlds that are similar, but not the same. In the one I'm from, I used Yveltal for the weapon. And it was you who captured it again."
no subject
"But.. either way you still seem the same to me at least!" he smiled a little, trying to look at the bright side of things as usual, "I hope so at least! Floette came back to you too, right?"
no subject
He'd need to find a place to stay... Calem can always use his room. It's not like AZ uses it much anyway.

"It's still a bit small, but we've got a lot of Pokemon there. We're still waiting for a few of the eggs to hatch."

The doors are still a little bit of a problem, but he manages all right. "It's just over there." He points a little ways off, where a small house with a fence in the back yard stands.
no subject
"The little farmhouse?" he squints a bit in the direction AZ points, "It looks pretty nice."
no subject
At the question though, he nods. "We were given a few eggs during a festival here, and then we found some on the Skyway along with a Ditto. Hilda and N decided they wanted to make a place for all the Pokemon, and I helped contribute some shards. We have some berry trees, too."

He doesn't want to lose anyone else from here.

"Lucario! Remember the time I fell and sprained my ankle after doing that backflip off that ledge on my skates?" while Calem laughed, you didn't have to be N to figure out that Lucario would have rather not remembered that little bit at all, "He had to half drag my back to the nearest town."
And yet he still doesn't wear a helmet.
"After I recovered I went back there and did a perfect backflip off it. I wrote 'Conquered by Calem!' with a magic marker on a rock next to it..." he sighs a little and his smile faded a bit, "I guess that ledge is gone now too..."
