[day 191] "It's very unfortunate I have to say this, But the world is going to end today" [closed]
Who: Haruka, Takane, Colin, Ryu (4)
Open: Closed
When: Day 191
Where: Skyway -> Bastion
What:
It was an extremely average day,
Without a single obstacle in my path
Until I was bored, listening to the radio,
And I heard this voice that said:
"It's very unfortunate I have to say this,
But the world is going to end today"
Format: action
Warnings: STUPID SICK TEENAGERS
[ She stood there, frozen, eyes wide and breathing heavy.
Takane didn't know what had happened. One moment, she was turning around to make her way out of the school. The next ... she was here.
In a place she didn't recognize.
In a place that was ...
She didn't even know how to describe it.
Takane slowly turned around, eyes scanning the area she now found herself in. Did she fall asleep again? Was she dreaming?
No, she had to wake up. Haruka was at the hospital. She needed to go see him! She had to find him and tell him-- ]
AUGH! Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, WAKE UUUUUUP!
[ ... But clearly, that wasn't working. Takane frowned. Okay. She started walking, looking around. Maybe if she walked around long enough, she'd wake up.
Or figure out what was going on.
No way this wasn't a dream or something, though. She'd have to wake up sometime.
Takane walked for a while, keeping an eye out for anything that might clue her in as to what was going on. She didn't find one.
But she did find something else.
The moment she saw him, her eyes widened again and she could have sworn her heart stopped. She rushed over to the limp, unmoving form of herlove friend, placing a hand on his arm and shaking him a little.
He couldn't be here. Not really. This was just a dream, right? Haruka was in the hospital.
Still, her emotions at seeing him like this were very real. ]
H-Hey ... Hey, Haruka ... Haruka, wake up ...
[ Tears welled up in her eyes again, and she roughly took him into her arms, shaking him a little more. ]
Haruka ... Haruka! Hey! Wake up, Haruka!
[ Those tears rolled down her cheeks. No, nonono. He wasn't waking up. This was a dream, and she still couldn't do anything. She was totally useless. ]
HELP!
[ She screamed out the word, looking around to see if maybe anyone was around to hear it. ]
HELP! WE NEED HELP! SOMEONE, ANYONE, PLEASE! P-Please ...

[Ryu walks towards the sound, ready to attack anything that seems to be in their way. It's nothing big so far, just a few peckers who are driven away pretty easily, but the sound is getting closer. He can see two people off in the distance.]
Colin, can you see what's going on over there?
no subject
Two humans, one male, one female. They don't look like they're in good condition. Come on, let's get over there.
[If he was at a brisk pace before, he's outright running now.]
no subject
She held onto Haruka as tightly as she could, though her current condition was making it more and more difficult to concentrate on much of anything. She breathed heavily, trying to force enough air into her lungs. She had to keep going. For Haruka. If she blacked out now, Haruka wouldn't be safe. ]
H-He ... lp ...
[ Her voice had gotten quieter at this point, though she tried to keep going. ]
no subject
[Colin rushes to them, his scans already convincing him that there isn't too much to worry about. Other than their health. That is going to be a problem if they can't get them back to the Bastion soon.]
What's happened to you two?
no subject
You can lean on me, it's okay.
no subject
Ha- ... H-Haruka ... n-needs ... a hospital ...
[ And so did she, from the sounds of it. It was getting that much harder to breathe. Her vision was starting to fade, too. She was beginning to slump over the form of her friend, a little, but she was determined to get what information these two needed to them, so they could help Haruka. ]
no subject
[Colin reaches out to put his hand on Takane's shoulder to stead her, and another hand on her forehead.]
Easy there, you... whoa, what the hell?
Ryu, check the boy for injuries. This girl's burning up.
[Weak medical scanner, go!]
no subject
Here... it's okay. We can get you back to the Bastion, we can help you more there.
no subject
She opens her mouth to say something, but she can't even do that anymore.
At least they had help now ... Haruka would be okay, right? ]
no subject
... Where the hell WERE you two?! Illness doesn't move this fast, you were just yelling...
Ryu, if you can move him, we need to Yukio out here now, this girl is... Look, run back to the Bastion, I can watch the kids, they need a doctor NOW. Don't spare a moment! GO!
Dammit, girl, lay down. I don't think you're...
[Urgh, what is bedside manner?]
[Colin moves to lay her back on the ground so he can check her out better. He pulls his medkit out of his pants pocket and opens it up.]
Can you talk at all any more? Were you ill before you woke up here?
no subject
no subject
Not that she could even if she did realize it. She's still struggling to breathe over here. Breathing is hard right now. Don't ask her to talk anymore. ]
no subject
[Colin stares at her for just a moment, running some calculations. The way her vitals are going, she's going to go into cardiac arrest here in just a couple of minutes, unless it's a neurotoxin. That will be worse for her, but also treatable.]
[Suffice it to say, he can't make things WORSE by guessing. He immediately snags a hypo spray cannister out of the medkit, and he removes a shell of nanites from its resting place.]
Okay, universe. You wanna throw this situation at me and try to break my streak?
Well, tough, I'm gonna win again and fix this shoddy attempt at lifehacking you're throwing at me.
[He interfaces wirelessly with the hypo, consulting the manual and a medical textbook in his mind. A few quick alterations to the programming, and he puts the hypo to her neck and inserts the nanites into her.]
Technology, do your thing...
[He sets his scanner to monitor Takane's vitals passively, and he turns his attention to Haruka's condition.]
You two really beat the probabilty curve, you know that?
[Not like they can answer him anyway...]
[He's got an IV with no medicine attached to it, and he's just come out of surgery on a non-sterile wasteland. Whelp, part one of taking care of him is to disinfect any of his wounds so nothing nasty can crop up later on.]
Really, really wish you two could talk back to me right now...
no subject
no subject
He gets the lead out when he finally spots Colin and his new charges, immediately dropping to his knees opposite Colin and taking vitals and general stock of the situation. One unconscious in a hospital gown and with a detached IV, and the other...]
Did you get any information out of them?
no subject
Not a thing. She lost the ability to speak around when I sent Ryu to get you. I... took a shot in the dark that she was poisoned, her condition was deteriorating way too quickly to be illness or exertion. I administered a dose of anti-toxin medical nanites to purge her system and attempt to repair the damage. They seem to have stablized her condition, but she's still out of it, so I can't say for certain whether or not that's all that's wrong with her.
As for him, he looks like he came out of surgery not too long ago. You can see the IV in his arm, and there are fresh incisions sutured on his chest. I took care to clean and disinfect his wounds, but he hasn't come around either.
[He looks at Ryu, and he smiles gratefully.]
Hell of a job, Ryu. I'm glad you were with me today.
no subject
I can... try a healing spell if you think it might help.
no subject
[Medical nanites? Cripes, Colin, you're operating a little beyond Yuki's tech level.]
Do you have any way of knowing what it was that was cleared from her system?
[With one patient as stable as they're going to get (at least for now), Yukio focuses on the unconscious boy first. He lifts the collar of Haruka's gown and peers beneath his it, frowning at what he sees. Yukio's no surgeon, but he can only imagine incisions like that being made for one reason.]
Damn it. I think he's right out of heart surgery.
[He reaches into a pouch on his belt and pulls out a small vial of clear liquid, fiddling with one end for a moment before deftly attaching it to Haruka's IV.]
This one needs to be in the hospital, now.
no subject
[He knows his world is behind on technology. Medicine isn't really past the herbal stage.]
I can carry him and get him there fast if you need.
no subject
If I hadn't given the nanites such extreme operating conditions, I might be able to give you more, but if I hadn't done that... Well, she'd probably be dead. Normally, the anti-toxin protocols have to know what they're dealing with so they can be precise in treatment. Doing it this way purges everything that isn't supposed to be in her system, and it doesn't stop to take notes. Bad if you wanna know what it was, good if you absolutely have to save someone with an unknown toxin.
Sorry. This is way outside of my field of expertise.
[He rubs his hand over his face, and he looks to Ryu.]
Yeah, these two are going to need a hospital, even the girl isn't completely out of the woods yet. Just... stable. Can your healing restore... uh.... pep? Give them an energy kick, something to wake them up?
[He looks at Yukio apologetically again.]
Sorry, like I said... WAY out of my expertise.
no subject
[Because from the sound of it? She wouldn't have made it if Colin had waited until Yukio got there, and even if she had, the exorcist had no way of clearing her system quickly enough.
A nod to Ryu.]
We need to go fast, but he also needs to be handled as gently as possible. These incisions are too fresh for rough handling. If your healing spell can help stabilize him, do it.
no subject
[His clawed hand glows for a moment, before he points it at the boy. While it's not a complete healing, it's enough to at least start closing wounds and make him feel a bit better.]
Hopefully that will help...
no subject
[Colin makes a face at that, and nods.]
I can probably whip together a stretcher or a something to carry him. Her I can carry solo, if needbe.
Any recommendations?
no subject
Good. [Another nod.] He's staying with us for now, so let's move before we draw any unwanted attention.
A two-man stretcher's would be best.
no subject
[He does touch down to the ground at least. Standing takes less energy than floating.]
