[ As if it hadn't been enough for her to wake up in an unfamiliar place, but then, as she was trying to figure out where she was, she was attacked by a monster. Fortunately, she wasn't defenseless; however, taking on that monster on her own was difficult, impossible, even. It left her little room to heal once she'd pushed it back enough for her to run away.

It had taken her a while, but it looked like she finally made it to safety. It looked as though she had come to some sort of safe haven ... it looked different from the place she was in before. It felt safe.

Kohaku held her right arm with her left hand. She herself had a lot of scrapes and bruises, and that arm she held was still bleeding from where the monster had caught it. She didn't have any more answers now than she did before about where she was, but she did feel a sort of relief at the idea of being far away from that thing that attacked her.

That wasn't like anything she had ever seen, monster-wise.

Now that she was safe, Kohaku put her focus into summoning forth a healing arte ... only, the arte never happened.

She tried again. Focused harder.

Still nothing.

She fell to her knees.

Why wasn't her arte working? How was she going to heal herself? ]

[When Kohaku was coming in, it seemed as though someone else was going out. There was Colin, loaded for another expedition, and he was heading to the entrance of the Skyway. When he saw Kohaku, though, his expedition was momentarily forgotten, and he sprinted to her side.]

Easy there, miss! You look injured, how bad is it?

[windgod]

[What good was an expedition without a little muscle behind it...not to say that Colin didn't have muscle enough for the two of them, but Ippo was always willing to lend a hand where his friend needed it. Speaking of helping where it was needed, that sure was an injured and bleeding woman out in front of the Bastion; no sooner than Colin was by her side, so too was Ippo as he scanned the area, making sure nothing else was coming out of habit before he knelt down, though he kept a foot of space between them as not to freak out the already freaked out looking woman.]

Miss? I'm sorry for suddenly rushing over, but we're here to help. We have a hospital near here where you can get those injuries looked at...can you walk or do you need some help getting there?

[ It took her a moment to register that there were other people here with her. Kohaku turned her head a little to look at the two new people, both people she didn't recognize. They were asking about her injuries, offering help, etc ... She didn't answer about her injury, though. Instead, she asked about what was currently on her mind. ]

W-Why can't I heal myself ...?

This... is a difficult question to answer. The world functions differently now. Things don't work the way you remember.

[Colin's busily scanning her for injuries, worried that she may have hurt herself more than they can readily see.]

It's a very, VERY long story that we don't know much of, sadly.

You got off the Skyway on your own, though. That's very good for you. Lots of people need help to get here.

[That's was true...it took a capable kind of person to make it in off the Skyway on their own, even he'd needed Alucard's help in order to get back here his first time. He was just glad the woman was still conscious and coherent, it would definitely make things easier.]

Its like my friend said, but right now we need to get you to somewhere we can get you patched up. We really don't know much, but we'll let you know what we have figured out...let's just get you treated first though, okay?

[ The world functions differently? This wasn't any place she had ever been to before in her life, though, and she'd been all around Celirand, and even to Quartzia. She'd seen a lot of places. This wasn't any part of the world she had ever seen.

She was more confused now than she was before.

Still, it was true that she was injured. And with her healing artes on the fritz, she had no other choice than to just trust these people who wanted to help and let them take her to get patched up.

Slowly, she nodded. ]

Do you need help to walk, or can you move okay on your own?

[Elerians and Mrrshan tend to be very prideful. He's earned more death glares than he'd like just because he offered to help someone get to the medbay.]

[He holds his hand out to her in offering, but he won't be offended if she doesn't take it.]

[Ippo nodded, finally letting himself smile if only to help calm the poor woman down just a little bit as he stood once more. Then it occurred to him that introducing himself might actually help to cut the tension while figuring out who exactly this was...he couldn't keep calling her young woman after all. Even in his head it sounded rude.]

Oh...yes, I'm sorry! I should introduce myself, I'm Ippo Makunouchi; I wish it were under better circumstances, but its very nice to meet you miss!

[ She looked down to her arm, then back up to Colin. It would probably be a good idea to take his hand, but her arm was still pretty bad off ... and her good hand had blood all over it from the injured arm. She removed her bloodied hand from her arm and showed it to him, trying to think of the right words to say 'I'm very bloody and you probably wouldn't want to hold hands with me.'

Words were hard right now.

It took a few moments for the words that Ippo said to her to sink in, and when they did, it took her a bit for her to form the right words to respond. This was slightly easier, though. She knew her name, at least. ]

If you're worried about the blood, don't be.

[He gives a lopsided smile and he glances at Ippo, still holding his hand out to Kohaku.]

If I was worried about getting messy, I wouldn't have accomplished a quarter of the stuff I've done here.

I'm Colin Starfury, and I'll warn you right now, I'm going to say something monumentally stupid before we part company. I can't avoid this, I don't know how to relate to people properly.

I uh...heh...

[Colin please, we were doing so good let's just get poor Kohaku to the hospital before we start making asses of ourselves, alright?]

Don't worry about Colin, Kohaku. He's just a bit...blunt sometimes is all, so people give him a hard time over it. But for now, let's just get those cuts closed up...

[Jeez...whatever had gotten a hold of her out there looked like it wasn't playing around...thank goodness they looked smaller than larger.]

O ... Okay.

[ Okay to what, she didn't know. Just. Okay. She wasn't in good shape right now, and she knew it. The best she could do was let these two guys lead her to medical attention. ]

[Better to make a small ass of himself than to make a huge ass of himself later. With that out of the way, he reaches out to take her hand and steady her.]

You look like you ran into something really unfriendly out there. Did it get you anywhere else, or just your arm?

[He's going to start towards the hospital, and he gives Ippo a quick look as if to ask for help with her.]

[Ippo was respectful enough not to force his help on the girl, merely offering her a shoulder that she could lean on if she chose to before they set off.]

Yeah...whatever's out there can't get in here though, so you're safe. Even if anything did...well, I'd kind of feel bad for whatever stumbled in rather than us.

[Yeah...considering the sheer amount of firepower they had concentrated here...it wouldn't end well for any potential invaders.]

[spiria]

[ She was still in a tiny bit of shock, so it took her a moment to answer. ]

Ah ... the worst of it is my arm. I'm scraped up a lot ... probably some bruises ...

[freedom_engineer]

We'll get your arm wrapped up and taken care of, you don't need to worry about that.

[He starts leading her to the hospital.]

If you need food, we've got a good kitchen. If you need rest, you'll be able to find a bed easily. Fortunately, if your magic is on the fritz, our hospital heals wounds VERY quickly.

That's true! I'm...not quite sure how it works, but things that would take weeks to heal only take a few days.

[Considering his reckless streak, he had a firsthand knowledge of that...but there was no reason to make that public knowledge. With Kohaku walking fine on her own, Ippo opted to follow behind the two, if only to give the sense that someone was watching their back for added safety.]

[ She's experienced wounds healing fairly quickly. Even if the most serious wounds in her world needed a bit more help, she was able to heal most surface wounds pretty quickly with her healing artes.

Which, of course, was why it was so confusing to her that she couldn't use it once she got into this place. ]

Why couldn't I use my healing arte ...?

That...I'm not entirely too sure on myself as well. It seems like people's powers are restricted here from what I've seen...even on the skyway people seem to run into problems if they try to use their powers too much.

[Honestly? You're probably not asking the right person on this one Kohaku. Ippo's never used magic or anything of the like in his life...in his world that stuff is nothing but fantasy. How it all worked was well beyond him if he was being honest.]

[Colin is silent for a moment as he walks, as he considers what his answer to that will be.]

The energy of the world has been disrupted by some unnatural events. Magics are more limited, less reliable.

They still work, but... it's harder, and not always going to work for everyone. This place is something of a nexus between worlds.

[spiria]

[ That was ... a very unnerving thing to hear. If she couldn't use her artes, how was she going to defend herself, or heal anyone? This wasn't good.

She was already injured. She's already putting herself into a position where she needs to accept the help of people she's only just met.

This does not make her feel good at all. She has a bad feeling about this place. ]

Where's Shing ...? Hisui, too? Are they here, do you know?

I don't know, and I don't have a better answer to that. You saw the condition of the world out there.

[Colin shakes his head.]

It's... a broken world is the best way I can put it. There are varying theories on what that means.

[windgod]

But that doesn't mean they aren't out there somewhere!

[Well...it wasn't untrue, they very well could be for all he knew.]

I haven't met anyone named Shing or Hisui yet, but people show up here all the time, so its reasonable that they could drop in at any time.

[spiria]

Oh. Okay.

[ Later, the full force of things will hit her and hit her hard. Until then, though, she's far too out of it to really say much more than that. ]

I'm sorry for burdening you guys like this. Thank you for helping me ...

[He leads her into the hospotal with Ippo, taking her to a room where they can better treat her wounds.]
