What: Our Two Ryus are training in dragon things, hilarity ensues.

Warnings: Crazy dragon powers, violence, subjects of death and suffering are sort of likely.



[Well, there's an odd sight.  Ryu looks like he's getting to be pretty well equipped with some gear for an extended trip on the Skyway.  Furthermore, it's one of the few times he actually looks serious.  It's a promise he plans to keep after all, but he needs to get them far enough from the Bastion first.  He's concerned about the extent of his counterpart's power, and he doesn't quite know just how strong he really is.  Their forms both carry the name and title of Kaiser, but it's hard to say who would be more powerful.  Which makes this exercise extremely dangerous.

He figures the further away from the Bastion they can manage to be, the better.   After all, any collateral damage on the Skyway shouldn't matter, right?  You might run into Ryu on his daily habits, such as praying at the Shrine or a bit of light training, but he's unlikely to answer any questions about where he's going.  You're welcome to ask, but good luck getting him to be forthcoming with answers.  He doesn't know how many people know about the other Ryu's power being uncontrollable, and he doesn't want to betray his friend's trust.]

Alright, I think this is far enough.

[He turns to regard his counterpart, now that the Bastion is distant enough for him to hopefully consider it safe.  There are a few things to figure out before they get started, however.]

So before we get started, I need to know how this transformation first happened.  Finding out what first caused something like this can lead to helping you control it.

[He knows from some of their previous conversations it was definitely an emotional reaction, and he could sympathize.  Emotions run really high with this kind of power, and it's extremely difficult not to lose yourself.  He's had a few instances of that happening before he gained control of his own power.]

And once you know what it is, I need you to access it.  Don't worry about trying to use it, this is about control.  Just focus on changing, and then doing something simple.  Maybe walk around, stretch your legs a bit.  Get used to having that kind of power.  If anything happens, I'll handle it.  So don't worry about hurting anyone accidentally, nobody should find us this far out.

[Ryu still looks a little worried, but... his counterpart should be able to handle whatever he throws at him. He thinks back, trying to figure out the words to describe it.]

Rasso... he... he tortured the people of Chek... trying to... to find me... I... I couldn't...

[He takes a deep breath, trying to control himself - and closes his eyes. It's not easy to deal with the sudden rush of anger and pain that envelops him. He lets out a scream as a blue glow envelops him and his form disappears in a flash, replaced by the monstrous form of the Kaiser Dragon, looking down at the suddenly tiny creature.]

[He moves to attack, but then - hesitates. He can sense deep power from the other, enough to match his own. It's difficult to resist, though - he growls with the effort of not attacking.]

[It's a form altogether not unfamiliar to him. There was one other instance of knowing Kaiser's power. When he was a child, in the basement of Angel Tower. The power that now radiates from his counterpart is similar in no uncertain terms. Like he's missing something important. It might be the key to helping him, but who can say?]

Good. Just focus on maintaining that emotion. I know what you're feeling right now, it's like a dam breaking inside of you, isn't it? You have to control it for yourself if you want to have any hope of using it safely.

[He recognizes he's in a fair amount of danger, but he feels confident he can subdue his counterpart if the need arises.]

Just stay focused, okay? You'll get this.

[What is he saying? It's hard to listen, hard to make sense of anything with rage clouding his mind, but he makes an effort to not attack, though he rocks forwards on his talons dangerously. He's not sure how long he can resist the urge, and he lets out a screech of pain and anger.]

[His hand rests upon his sword, but still he doesn't draw it.]

You're doing good. I know it hurts, but you're holding out really well.

[Still, his posture is a defensive one. Ready to move at a moment's notice.]

[It's hard, so hard, and Ryu is scrambling inside his own mind to try to get control of his body. Instinct says to fight, memories say to stop, but he's still incomplete, still broken.]

[That moment of weakness is enough to lose his grip, and he dashes forward, raising a claw to swipe at the other.]

[And that's when the shift happens. Ryu evades the attack, but only just. Now comes the time Ryu has been waiting to do, he feels it might serve his counterpart best to see what he can become. The transformation happens as any other, but instead of being replaced with a larger dragon form, Ryu stands before his counterpart as himself with shining golden hair and sword gripped firmly in his hands.]

Control your emotions, and control your power.

[He advances towards his counterpart without fear, without hesitation. As it stands, the difference between them is made perfectly clear.]

[The transformation catches him by surprise, and he growls, lowering his head. He smells... similar. But it's not him, he can tell the difference. The power feels the same, and Ryu struggles to keep himself from attacking. It feels like he's drowning in his anger and fear, and he can barely do anything to hold it back.]

[Control it? It's all he can do to not be overwhelmed by it. But in his mind, he tries to master it. His Kaiser form's eyes are troubled, and he rocks again, longing to sink his claws into something soft that he can tear apart. - No, he doesn't want that, but this form is made for violence, for decimation, and it's so hard to keep it still.]

[He still doesn't speak, but digs his claws into the ground, trying to keep himself from moving. He does let out another growl, low and threatening, as the other approaches. He's not sure if he can stop himself from attacking if he comes much closer.]

[It's not hard to recognize that Ryu is preparing for a Skyway trip, but Zuko can only guess at the reasons. She doesn't think too hard on his unusually serious expression -- maybe one of the recent world fragments they found was one of his? Regardless, she has more important considerations.]

You're not planning on going out there on your own, are you?

[dragonform]

[Zuko speaking to him breaks him out of his concentration. He's a little surprised she's showing any concern, given what she saw with the Gasfella incident.]

It's not like I can't handle it, but I'm actually meeting up with someone.

[daughterofursa]

[After the Gasfella incident, why wouldn't she show concern? Yes, Ryu proved himself one of the most able members of their group, but they beat that Gasfella to a pulp and it was still hitting hard.

...and it's totally not concern, it's practicality. Ryu running into something like that on his own and getting hurt wouldn't help anyone.]

Good. It's not smart for even the most capable of us to go out there alone.

Of course not.

[Though even if he isn't necessarily going alone, it may be no less dangerous.]

Don't worry, everything will be fine! I figured looking for more shards might be a good idea. I've been planning something for awhile, and if these can really rebuild things that were lost...

[The Bastion might have a swank new tree house in its future.]

Planning something? Like what?

[Zuko hasn't even given any thought to using her own shards.]

My old home. It was burned down when I was a kid.

[It's something he's been mulling over for a long time. It's probably a pretty selfish desire he figures, but it's also something he wants.]

[daughterofursa]

[She isn't going to call him out on the sentiment, because she misses her home, too, and she made a lot of selfish and really terrible decisions trying to get back to it before. But...]

I didn't realize you could use them to make things that large.

[Zuko, not everyone grew up in a palace.]

It wasn't all that big. Then again, it's been a quite some time since I last saw it.

[]He lost track of exactly how many months they were stuck on the Black Ship, after all.]

Not much point to living in the past when you have to move forward.

If you feel that way, then why recreate your home here?

[dragonform]

[For all his talk, he's a bit sentimental.]

The home I left behind was nothing but ashes, even before the Calamity. I guess I just don't wanna forget the life I had with my brothers before everything got out of control.

[He's not sure that makes sense, but... Family is an important thing to him.]

[daughterofursa]

[Zuko actively burned a lot of the mementos she had of her childhood even before coming here, but she imagines Ryu's family was much more honest than her own. She's past being sentimental over the relationship she never really had with her father.

But, he wasn't her only family.]

...I guess I can understand that. I wouldn't want to forget my mother, or my uncle.

What were they like, if you don't mind me asking?

[Ryu knows family can be a personal thing, and some people may not be so okay with discussing something they lost so soon after losing it.]

[It is hard to talk about, but they deserve to be spoken of. Not that her words could ever fully do them justice.]

They were everything parents should be. They helped me... not to become my father.

[dragonform]

[He nods. While he doesn't understand who Zuko's father was, he understands the importance of changing your life for the better.]

I'm glad they were there for you.

Yeah. I just wish I could've done more in return.
