Entry tags:
lap three // day 172 (open)
Who: Aoi and anyone at all!
Open: Open
When: 172
Where: Near the edge of the Bastion, not far from the arsenal.
What: Aoi tries to build a volleyball court! Key word "tries."
Format: Action tags preferred.
[After a morning of scavenging, Aoi has returned from the Skyway, victorious. By the southeastern edge of the Bastion, a short distance from the arsenal, she's spread out her materials: two tall wooden poles, a net, rope, a volleyball, and a bucket of paint placed a few yards away from everything else.
The Bastion is severely lacking in organized sports, and he's still consumed by the anxiety of recent events. This'll give her something to focus on, and a volleyball net can't be too hard to build, right?
Weeeeelllll.
Throughout the day, Aoi can be found struggling to get the poles to stay in the ground, place them parallel and exactly the right distance apart, tie the net to them, and make any significant progress whatsoever. Despite her difficulties, she still meets any stares with a grin and a little wave as always—unless anyone passes by on the occasions when she gets tangled up in the net.]

Hey there! Need any help with this?
no subject
Hehe, yeah, help'd be good. Thanks! Umm... Any idea how to get this to stay?
no subject
Yeah, I think I can help with this, just let me see here.
[Ippo rolled up the sleeves on his shirt and took hold of the pole himself, taking a few deep breaths before he lifted it up and with force well hidden by his baggy clothing, slammed it deep into the ground, almost effortlessly.]
There we go! That one should be right as rain, wanna give it a few pushes to see if its good?
no subject
Ah, totally secure! Ippo, that was amazing! Heheh, and you were telling me you weren't so strong before! [She bounces a little on the balls of her feet.] No way, that was incredible!
no subject
[Ippo hadn't even really thought anything of it, he was just so used to lifting large loads for his family business that a pole didn't seem that big a deal to him. Still, he didn't view himself as overly strong just because he could ram a piece of wood into the ground, but it was enough to cause him to sheepishly rub the back of his head.]
I don't really think I'm all that strong though...especially not compared to everyone else here.
[Considering the fact that only his forearms were visible and his current attire was baggy enough to hide his muscles, he didn't really cut all that impressive a figure just by looks; unless of course Aoi was determined to probe deeper to get her answers.]

I dunno...I've seen Rin do some pretty amazing things, but I do my best. Maybe all that time moving supplies onto boats really helped me out, huh?

[Considering how strong she was and all she was capable of...he wouldn't be surprised. He was so lost in thought that as Aoi attempted to lay a rapid fire assault down on his arm, his body began to react on its own, weaving out of the way of each shot fluidly and with as little movement as he could allow at this range. It was funny, how much of his training was just instinctual at this point...it might even have been a little scary with how efficient he was with it.]
no subject
Those're those boxer instincts, right? So cooool! ["Scary"? More like totally awesome.]
no subject
Yeah...I guess so! I mean, the coach basically had our drills beaten into us to the point we could do them in our sleep. I guess my body just hasn't forgotten anything.
[He said, putting his hands up in front of his face in his trademarked Peek-a-boo guard stance. There wasn't any reason he should shy away from a chance to work on his technique after all.]
no subject
Um... Do you- need some help with that?
no subject
Ah, yeah... Thanks! Do you know anything about building stuff? [And she geeeeently tries to wriggle her leg out of the net like a pant leg. Hold on, hold on, she's totally got this.]
no subject
[Although there don't seem to be too many pieces to whatever she's trying to put together. He watches her for a second before moving closer and offering--]
I can- at least hold that while you get your leg free?
no subject
Oh, thanks! Yeah, just be careful, 'cause it's gonna be hard to find another if it rips.
[She kicks her leg out in front of her, wobbles around for a bit, and beams once she finds her balance.]
no subject
What're you trying to make anyway?
no subject
With a giggle, she jumps right back up to her feet, though.] This place is seriously lacking when it comes to sports!
no subject
Volleyball, huh. That could be fun.
[He has an idea of the game, even if he's never played. Maybe Sora has.]
no subject
[WHOOPS, now she's in SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS mode, jabbering on and scrabbling back to roll one of her poles over and then try straightening out the net.]
I mean, we just need the court first... You'd think tying this to that'd be way easier, right? But it keeps getting tangled...
no subject
[Roxas shakes his head, then crouches down to try detangling the net from the other end.]
Let's just get it untangled.. It shouldn't be too hard from there with two people.
no subject
[Continuing her detangling attempts, she grins and nods.] Thanks! Heheh, seeeeee? Teamwork!
no subject
[He's definitely had more experience fighting alongside people than playing games with them, but it sounds like a less dangerous, more fun alternative.
He just smiles in response.]
no subject
Hello! Are you setting up a net to catch something?
no subject
Hi! Hehe, what'dya think I'd be catching? [She's in the middle of trying to tie one edge of the net around one of he upright poles, except the net has just sort of fallen on top of her and she's gotten tangled up in it and the rope.] Nah, it's a volleyball net! Or, it's gonna be.
no subject
[He raises an eyebrow upon hearing the explanation.]
Volleyball? I've never heard of it.
[Without really asking, he sets about trying to help the poor girl untangle herself from the net.]
no subject
[It's a struggle to rein in her enthusiasm as she explains, but flailing and bouncing around in SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS mode isn't going to help the situation.] It's a sport! There're a lot of rules and guidelines and stuff, but the gist of it is that there's a team on each side of the net and you wanna hit the ball over it. If it hits the ground on your side, the other team gets a point!
no subject
[While he's at it, he's gonna lend a hand setting up the net.]
Though... If we're gonna play together, I should probably know your name, shouldn't I? I'm sorry, I should have introduced myself earlier! I'm Ryu, of Cedar Woods if it helps you tell the two of us apart.
no subject
Ryu of Cedar Woods... Got it! My name's Aoi Asahina. [Now that she's not trapped in the net, she's back to trying to tie it to the pole—and it wasn't working last time, Aoi, what makes you think doing it the exact same way isn't going to get you tangled up again.] As soon as it's all set up, I'll start seeing who else is interested and setting up teams! It's gonna be a blast!
sorry/not sorry.
[With a hint of concern, he decides to intervene. Hey, camping out a lot means you know a lot about tying things up. All in all, he's pretty dextrous and occasionally checks with Aoi just to make sure he's setting things up right. Don't worry, it's knot a problem for someone like him.]
I think that would be really good for everyone. We can't all be serious all the time, having fun is just as important.
more like KNOT SORRY
[Intervention is good; there's a lot more actual knot-tying going on with Ryu's help and less getting miserably tangled up. As she speaks, she focuses on the knot-tying.] Yeah, yeah! You get it! Sports are perfect for that, don't you think? 'cause there's a big team-building aspect, too, and... [Suddenly very focused, she pulls at the corner of the net that's been tied to the pole and grins.]
Perfect! Totally secure! Hey, since you're way better at tying these than me, can you get the top corner? [The pole is some seven feet high, and she's short anyway.]
