Day 146 | Open | Action
Who: Toshiko Yamamoto and whoever runs into her on the Skyway
Open: Open
When: Day 146
Where: In front of a ruined apartment building.
What: WHO BLEW UP EVERYTHING aka Toshiko is super unhappy about sudden floaty land.
Format: idk actiony thing
Warnings: Swearing? Mentions of death? idk man.
[The quiet is what wakes her up first. The sound of nothing, rather than the sounds of the city. For a moment, she wonders how much she drank last night - and then remembers exactly why she's outside. She bites back a sob, and then pushes it away. No. He wouldn't want her to be like this. She has to think... she has to think...]
[Okay. Time to take stock of things. Toshiko takes a deep breath and picks up her backpack. It seems all right, so she pulls it onto her back as she stands, looking around. Looking around at... huh.]
... What the...
[She crouches a bit, trying to see if she can spot any movement. Something's... far off in the distance? Maybe she should head that way. Slowly, she starts walking towards the edge of the chunk of land, and makes the mistake of looking down into nothing.]
[She falls backwards, sitting down hard. Okay. Bad idea to look down. Hadn't she learned that? She'll just... sit here a minute and get her breath back.]

Although there's still a bit of distance to be navigated between them, she calls out. Her voice is strong, accent oddly Welsh. ]
Hoy, you! Are you all right? How do you fair?
no subject
... Uh. I'm... okay, I think.
[If 'okay' means 'relatively unhurt and questionably alive', at least.]
no subject
For which we should all be glad. That makes us both. Can you stand?
no subject
Looks like it.

[ She pauses as Daphnes makes an aborted motion, paying attention to leading her mount. It takes a moment to find the direction where the ground wishes to rise and meet them, but they're soon on their way again. ]
This is... not exactly how I imagined spending the day. Have you seen anyone else?
no subject
[... She pinches herself and winces.]
Okay I definitely am awake.
no subject
There we go! [ She dismounts with ease, patting her chocobo on the side for a job well-done, then makes her way to young hyuran. ] Pleasure to meet you up close. May I have your name? I'm O'danya Mitnu.

[Okay, so she doesn't sound Japanese at all - the accent should have tipped her off in the first place, but then again she doesn't sound all that Japanese anymore. She tries to think if she knows of any European cat-people, but nothing comes to mind. Maybe some kind of werecat? Is that a thing? ... Whatever.]
... Toshiko. Where... are you from, exactly?
no subject
Such questions... don't appear to be very relevant at present.

[ Note that Eorzea itself wasn't ever fully mapped until relatively recently, either. Global geography is not exactly a popular subject to learn back home. ]
no subject
[Okay. She can deal with this. Maybe.]
no subject
[ But she can't imagine that everyone would be as unscathed as herself or Toshiko. ]

[ As she says this, she moves back to her chocobo and easily climbs back up into the saddle, maneuvering around Toshiko to walk alongside her. ]
no subject
That way.
[She eyes the gap, and bounces on her heels once, twice, three times, before running up to it and leaping over it. Her heel catches on the edge, but she recovers quickly.]
Ta-da~!

Hello out there! You three seem lost! Give me another minute or two, and I'll be right over to you!
no subject
I would say be careful, but it seems you've found your way around these paths before!
no subject
We don't have much choice anyway.
[On a floating chunk of land above an endless abyss, where else are you going to go?]
no subject
It's a lot easier than it looks.
[He gives each of them a quick look, smiling at the sight of the chocobo.]
So, quick primer... you woke up here, and the environment is shattered. There's a place you can go where everyone who wakes up out here is heading. When you get there, you'll find an amulet.
[He holds his up for inspection.]
This amulet will pull the ground in to meet you while you're walking out here.
So... you two from the same world, or did you just happen to meet out here?
no subject
We only just happened to meet. My name is O'danya Mitnu. Well met.
Actually, pardon, but did you say the same world?
no subject
[In the Underground it's more normal, but she's not going to bring that up around people she doesn't know.]
[... That amulet looks really nice, though.]
no subject
But yes, multiple worlds, O'Danya. There's... well, there's a whole lot going on that you need to know, but I'm probably not the best person to tell you. I have issues with being too blunt, among other things.
Anyway! O'Danye, Toshiko, it's nice to meet you. You've arrived at a good time, the gods of this world have given us a harvest festival, and we're on day four. I was just coming out to make a quick look for salvage and any sur...
[He cuts himself off and smiles. "Survivor" has bad implications, even if it's true.]
New arrivals.
no subject
It's normal if you're miqo'te. [ Yeah, that is kind of the term to describe all of the enlightened races. The term you're looking for here is hyur. ]
Harvest festival? It's almost as if I haven't left home at all. How long is it to last?
[ She'll get to the "salvage and sur—new arrivals" later. ]
no subject
[The mention of the 'gods' makes her scowl, though.]
Great. More gods. Just what I need to be dealing with.
