Crona crouches down behind the main apartment building, a scrap of meat held out in careful fingers. The meister does not move. In the shadows, something dark and cat-sized paces back and forth. Then a little puff of flame comes from the small creature, illuminating a squat black dragon with red eyes and a unicorn horn. Crona's eyes widen, but the meister doesn't move.

"The... the little one. It's hungry." Even after eating two pieces of meat, the dragon's still hungry. Crona holds out a piece to Maka. This way, Maka can feed the little one. "It might bite you."

[grigorichord]

She takes it and nods, willing to sacrifice a bit of finger in exchange for feeding the tiny dragon. Maka holds the meat out, moving her hand slowly and then keeping it still when it's a few inches away so that the dragon can approach at its own comfort level.

It waddles closer, then sniffs at her hand. And then the dragon snaps at the meat, narrowly missing Maka's fingers.

She laughs softly, eyes completely fixed on the dragon. This is not something she ever thought she would be able to do.

"It's really cute."

[blackblooded]

Maka's eyes are fixed on the dragon, and Crona knows it's important to make sure the dragon doesn't get nervous, but Crona's eyes are fixed on Maka.

"You're really cute too, Maka."

The words come out without consideration, without thinking at all.

[grigorichord]

She shakes her head, smiling brightly and still laughing quietly so as not to frighten the dragon.

"Thanks Crona, so are you."

Crona's cheeks and ears go grey, a blush spreading down under the collar of the meister's robe.

"Y...." And Crona can't get past the first sound of the word, hands going up protectively. Cute. Maka said so are you.

Maka pulls her hand back from the dragon and pats Crona's shoulder for a moment before standing up.

"Does it live here?"

[blackblooded]

Crona nods, face still hidden behind slightly trembling hands. So Ragnarok takes that as his cue to speak up, though without coming out.

"Tch, this idiot wasted a bunch of shards getting them!"

[grigorichord]

Maka is about to check on Crona when Ragnarok speaks up and nearly gives her a heart attack. She'd almost forgotten about the presence of the weapon.

"Crona's not an idiot! And what do you mean wasted shards?" She knew they could use shards to buy things but what did that have to do with the baby dragon?

[blackblooded]

Crona never has the option to forget about Ragnarok.

"This moron bought the dragons with the shards we got!"

[grigorichord]

She glares at Ragnarok (or a random spot on Crona's back since the weapon isn't visible) for the insult and then returns her eyes to Crona's.

"How can you buy a dragon? Where did it come from?"

[blackblooded]

"I... I just bought them. With the little shards. You can buy things, even things that are alive. Paarthurnax bought mammoths, and they're lots bigger than the little ones."

[grigorichord]

"I didn't know you could do that. Wow." She glances at the dragon and then Crona once more.

"They were a really good choice."

[blackblooded]

Crona smiles down at the little dragon, then glances back up at Maka.

"They are. I... I like dragons."

[grigorichord]

Maka smiles, enjoying Crona's obvious contentment.

"I can see why. They're very cute, but they're also really strong."

[blackblooded]

Another piece of meat, so the little one doesn't run away.

"They are."

Maka is too, isn't she?

[grigorichord]

Does it live outside here?

[blackblooded]

"It's new, you know? And it's scared. It doesn't want to come inside yet."
