With a lack of moon in Bastion, Saix knows that he's no longer at his full strength. If he were better with magic, he could augment his battle skills with that... But it's never been his strong point. It's not a pleasant thing to be weakened. So, of course, Saix has decided he won't settle for it. After going to talk with the local smith, he's made an agreement with the other.

It just so happens that he's decided to drag along his fellow Nobodies as well.

Well, if you want something strong and with a good range, then a scrap musket is going to be your best bet. It doesn't have great accuracy, but since it shoots bullets in a spread, you won't have to worry about that anyway, so long as you point it away from allies.
