DAY 124 | OPEN
Who: Future Gohan and anyone else
Open: Open
When: Day 124
Where: The Skyway
What: Gohan arrives on the Skyway, but definitely not in any shape to make it to the Bastion
Format: Any
Warnings: Severe injuries and blood
[ The last thing he remembered was the sensation of searing flesh. The sensation of his nerve endings lit up like a campfire, as a barrage of energy blasts tore through him like a hot knife through butter. The image was clear as day to him, burned into his mind as it happened. A couple of lifeless machines, gazing down at him, cutting him down with all the effort of an elephant stepping on an ant.
It happened in an instant, but to him, it felt like it all happened too slowly. Like he had been watching his own death in slow motion, the events so unreal to him, that it might as well have felt like an out-of-body experience. But no, being outside of his body would've been a blessing. Instead, he had been trapped in it. Brought back to the reality of the situation, as that searing pain made it all too clear to him that he was going to be meeting his dad soon.
And just like that, everything had gone white. Prompting Gohan to wonder, if only for that last moment, whether it was finally time for him to sleep.
Instead, his eyes wildly shot open, and his breath came to him in a sharp gasp. The fact that he was even capable of opening his eyes again enough of a shock on its own. For a moment, he simply laid there, his chest heaving painfully with each breath he took. But once the adrenaline that came with the shock wore off, his body made it a point to remind him of just how bad of a condition he was in.
The pain flared up the instant he so much as moved, with Gohan instinctively gritting his teeth as he did his best to stand up. The best he could manage was to wobble against a wall, the dizzy spell that came from standing up making it very clear that he was in no condition to move past that. But he obviously couldn't stay here, he needed to find Trunks, or Bulma. ]
N-Need to... move... [ He murmured to himself, bringing one hand over the stump that was his left arm. Completely missing (or choosing to ignore) the copious amounts of blood that he was both covered in, and losing. ] Need... t-to find...
[ He tried to take a step forward, not even bothering to look up to see where he was going. But that one step was as far as he got, before he toppled forward, and fell back down on the ground. Of course, he could feel the pain flaring up the moment he hit the ground. But at the same time, he felt so numb... that he wasn't sure he cared. ]

[Paarthurnax hunts everday. It's not necessarily needed- he's gone for a long time without eating so long as he has a good meal prior, and sometimes even then. Still, the beasts here are rather small compared to, say, a mammoth. They don't feed him much. One never knows when one will need all their strength. Another positive to everyday hunting is that it keeps him up to date with things that are happening on the Skyway... Such as survivors.]
[The large Pecker drops to the ground with a dull thump, leaking blood. When Paarthurnax opens his mouth to speak, shards shine inbetween his teeth and in his gums.]
Grik ahraan fen oblaan mok das ganog... Zu'u tovok waan nii los rem spein. Can you keep a tight grip, neilass? I can take you to the Bastion.
[He could possibly carry him in his talons, but that might do much for his injuries...]

Idly, he couldn't help but wonder if this was what a slow death felt like. What with the dull ringing in his ears, the numbness that saturated his body, and the odd tranquility that was coming over him despite it all. It was almost amusing, if that was the case. Amusing enough that he couldn't help but respond with a weak chuckle. ]
... Can... try...
[ Assuming Gohan even heard them right, because for a moment there, it sounded like they were speaking an entirely different language altogether. Nonetheless, he did his best to get up, firmly placing his palm on the ground so as to push himself up. He managed to get as far as getting on his knees, before another dizzy spell overcame him and he had to steady himself.
This time, he didn't fall down though. ]

It was fortunate that she had decided to come here today, too, because as she arrived, she saw someone who did need her help. He was trying to get up on the giant dragon that was currently taking residence in the Bastion as well. She had never spoken with the dragon, but she had seen him around. He was kind of hard to miss, really.
Even though he seemed to be getting an offer of a ride to the Bastion from the dragon, he still seemed to be having problems getting to that point. Thus, she rushed over to the man's side. Here, she had been able to use her powers ... so maybe, if she tried to heal him here, it would work? ]
Sir, hold on! I-I can heal you!
[ She hoped she could, anyway. She concentrated, trying not to be nervous about the possibilities regarding her powers. Sure enough, soon Gohan might feel a warm fuzzy feeling, and some of his pain subsiding. ]
Earth Heal!
[ There. If that worked, Gohan would probably be good enough to walk ... which would be good for the dragon leading him toward the Bastion proper. ]

[Gohan won't have to struggle for too long- Paarthurnax presses his head forward to nudge the injured man on top.]
Hold tightly to my horn. As for you, tolsekiik, will make it back safely?

Maybe when he was a child, he would've simply given up. Maybe when his dad was around, he would've been content with letting his dad do the work. But his dad wasn't around anymore, he was gone. He was resting in peace, somewhere far away from all the devastation that had struck the world. He was the only one left, the only one who could save everyone...
He had to live.
So he renewed his efforts to stand up, planting his hand firmly on the ground so as to push himself to his feet. He had to live. No matter what happened, he simply had to live. He was so focused on that one singular though, that he hadn't even noticed the young girl come up to him. Her presence completely lost on him, until that warmth began to wash over him. ]
W-Wha...
[ It happened in an instant. The very instant that it took for Gohan to pause and look at himself. He still had wounds open for all to see, but as the warmth spread through his body, he could feel the effect it was having on him. The numbness went away, his senses all coming back to him. The wounds closed up as much as they could, the pain subsiding. He was suddenly aware, could feel every inch of his body again. Most of all, he could actually stand up, and assess his wounds.
And for the most part? He was... okay. He was actually okay. Granted, he wasn't at one hundred percent, but the last time he'd felt like this was probably the last time he ate a senzu bean. It was almost enough to bring a smile to his lips... if only he wasn't suddenly swept off his feet by what looked like... a dragon? ]
H-Huh? [ Wait, was he gonna leave the girl behind? ] H-Hang on! What if-- [ What if the androids attack? He was about to say. At least, until actually looked around and noticed the... well, for lack of a better term, the void around them. ]
... Where... are we...?

I'll be okay. We're not that far from the Bastion. Please, take care of him.
[ It was as the man started to become more aware of his surroundings that she looked back to him, her face falling into a small frown. It made her eyes well up with tears even thinking of what she had been told of this world, and how her own world had been destroyed. She wiped her eyes on her sleeve, and shook her head. ]
It may be best to talk about that when we're not in danger ... we need to get away from the Skyway, quickly.

[Paarthurnax tries to shift his head so that their survivor will get the hint to make himself comfortable. Dragon flight is not the smoothest of transportation. He really does want to make sure that the man does not fall off and hurt himself further. Besides, without a shard amulet of his own, he won't go far.]
We will take you to the Bastion. It is the only safety that is known to us in this place.
no subject
[ Despite being confused, Gohan nodded at the both of them. It was probably best to worry about being somewhere safe, rather that getting answers in a place where they might still be in danger. As such, he gripped the dragon's horn firmly, glancing over at the girl with a worrisome expression. ]
... Can we take her with us?
[ Gohan wasn't necessarily okay with leaving someone all by themselves. ]
no subject
I'll be fine. I can defend myself.
[ Though if she got an offer for a ride back, she wasn't going to reject it. ]
no subject
[He starts to crouch down, getting ready to launch himself into the sky. There's one last thing said to his passenger.]
Worry not. You are close to the Bastion- little harm is likely to come to her.
no subject
[ His reaction was more impulsive than anything else, especially given he wasn't in any condition to defend anyone. But nonetheless, Gohan hopped off the dragon's back before it could take off. He didn't want to come off as ungrateful though, given the dragon had been plenty helpful. So he turned to face it and offered what he hoped was a reassuring smile. ]
I'm sorry, I know this is probably really frustrating... but I can't leave someone all alone if there's even a remote chance of danger. [ He anxiously scratched the back of his neck, hoping this wasn't the short-tempered kind of dragon. ] If it's as close as you guys say it is, then we should be fine, right? I'd just rather be safe than sorry...
no subject
I-It's okay, really! I can make it back on my own, if he can't take more than one person at a time. I'll meet you back over there?
[ She gestures back in the direction of the Bastion. ]
no subject
"Fine" is not a term I would use to describe your state. You are wounded. She is not. Thus, the priority falls to you.
no subject
I should be well enough now, I think. At least, well enough to hold my own if anything happens. [ It wasn't a lie, he was in a much better condition than before. But whether he was fighting fit, he honestly wasn't sure. ]
All the same, I'm really sorry for all the trouble. Please don't think that I don't appreciate the help, I just... would feel a lot better knowing that she wasn't alone.
no subject
Sir, please! I ... I know you probably feel obligated to make sure I make it to safety, but it's really okay! I've held my own in battle before and I know I can do it again!
[ And then Polka tries to put on her best stern face. Considering she's a tiny fourteen year old formerly sick and dying girl, though, it probably isn't as effective as she thinks. ]
Please, I know you're only thinking about what's best for me, but I promise, I will be fine. We need to get you medical attention as soon as possible, and the quickest and safest way to do so is to allow him to transport you there now ...
no subject
There is her word. If you do not have faith in her, then, krosis.
[That's an apology, and the reasoning becomes pretty clear a second later. Gohan might very briefly feel large teeth up against his back, but they only brush. Excuse the giant dragon, he's just picking you up by the back of your shirt. Paarthurnax gives a slight nod to Polka and, if Gohan doesn't wiggle out from his clothes, starts to take off again.]
no subject
Gohan didn't have much time to think about it though, before he feels the dragon's teeth pick him up by his clothes. Something he, surprisingly, doesn't struggle against, if only because... well, if they were this sure... ]
... You better be alright then! [ Gohan calls out as the dragon starts taking off. ] I'm coming to find you if you're not!
no subject
I will be! I'll come visit you in the hospital to prove it to you!
[ She watched until they were high enough in the sky that she was sure neither of them could hear her, then started to run back in the direction she had come from. She had to stay true to her word, didn't she? ]
