Still in the Bastion: lots of NPCs

[While Colin and Nate go do their thing, the majority of the new NPCs stay around the monument, as do Zahi and most of the other Bastion-NPCs. Some of the new NPCs are wandering around the Bastion, though, checking out all the cool places here.

[Ibuki's bouncing around the newcomers, leading one of the chocolate chip jerky cows around as fast as it will tolerate. The musician is likely being followed by Ikuri as well]

Ibuki, don't scare off the newcomers!

[Several newcomers seem absolutely disgusted by these cows.

One newcomer, a guy who is maybe 18 or 19, seems interested. Not in the cows, though.]

...Ibuki? Is that you?

[Hey, a familiar voice! You may have heard him over the phone a few times.]

[between her sense of hearing and her memory, of course she'd recognize the voice]

[Look at that smile, he's so happy to be finally meeting people he talked with.]

See? I told you I would make it here eventually!

Yeah! Yeah! You made it!

[she's going to grab for Zero's hand excitedly]

You really made it! You're here with all your friends, too, right? Woooooowww you made like a ton of friends!! Way more than Ibuki did, Zero-chan!!!

[He's not quite jumping up and down like Ibuki is, but he is still excited.]

Yeah, it's great, isn't it? Pyth told them where to find us, so we could all meet up as one group.

[Pyth. Not 'first son'.

Nate actually did fix the translators.]

[and then she suddenly slows her hyperness, as it hits her what she just heard-]

... wait, Zero-chan, did you actually say Pyth instead of First Son???

...what? I've always been saying 'Pyth'.

[He frowns thoughtfully, and then a moment later it clicks.]

Oh right, it was messing up over the phone! I wonder why he never mentioned that to you, he's been here for a while right?

Well, yeah, probably, but...

Ibuki still has no clue who Pyth-chan is... Ibuki's not so good at investigating stuff.

[It's a shame Hajime hadn't ever shown up here... he might have been able to fit whatever pieces there were together]

[... gosh she misses everybody from the island...]

But he was right there, with everyone else! I mean, I never met him in person, but I recognized his voice.

He was the one who said to get the other core.

Hey, Zahi-chan isn't standing right behind Ibuki right now, is he, Zero-chan?

[Perhaps. Perhaps not. But I'm suddenly close by and within sight. Within arm's range of Ibuki, even. When did I get there?]

[Hi. I'm part of the Bastion's resident muscle. Perhaps you've heard of me.]

[Ibuki jumped, letting out a little squeak of surprise as she notices Ikuri]

Um, um, Ikuri-chan! You don't see Zahi-chan around do you?

Um, Zero-chan... um... find some of your friends and... I don't know...? Ibuki thinks something... bad... might happen soon? It might not... but um...

Be really careful and stick with your friends, okay? And... and when things are over, Ibuki can play you some music finally!

Ikuri-chan, Ikuri-chan, stick with Ibuki!

[Without waiting for a reply, she runs a short distance to the nearest camera]

Papa-chan...

Um, um, Zero-chan, he recognized Zahi-chan... Zahi-chan is First Son-chan! Pyth-chan!

[The camera has audio reception capabilities, but it does not have an audio broadcast capability. All Colin can do to confirm that he heard her is flicker the light on the camera, and adjust the lens quickly. Papa hears you, daughter. You might want to get someplace safer though...]

Er...sure, I can, but are you sure you don't need my help with anything?

[Oh look a friendly face in the crowd that will listen to Ibuki (and possibly the others who he talked to before)! This could totally come in handy later! Or right now, even.]

What's going on, anyway?

Um... well, uh...

[Ibuki fidgets a bit as she turns back to Zero]

You see, First Son-chan um... Zahi-chan, he's...

Kiiiiiiiiind of been doing stuff behind our back like... I mean, we have no idea what he's planning but except-?

Well, he was having a little kid throw our stuff off the side... and he probably has links to a group telling them to attack us and telling them terrible stuff about us that we didn't do so they attacked us because of that? So... so that means it's probably his fault Crona-chan is dead and...

And and... and I...

[Oh gosh she's starting to tear up-]

... just... I don't know what to do now...??? I warned Papa-chan and he'll probably do something now because he's a super smart engineer but what if it just ends up with everybody fighting each other?!?!

[Ibuki, what are you saying? Is a broad-strokes overcode for all the emotion running through Ikuri right now. That was an awful lot of information to parse all at once, but her brain latched on to bits of note - and frankly, those same bits are getting replayed over and over, because their significance is...well, for her, it's very much the emotional equivalent of grasping hot coals.]

[Zahi. The name. She knows the face, too. He orchestrated the sabotage. He relayed information to the enemy. He made an enemy out of that enemy, telling them the lies that they, in turn, told to the Bastion.]

[The enemy.]

[He killed Crona.]

[Zahi killed Crona.]

[Zahi enticed their enemies. Turned fighter against fighter... like a vulture, intending to collect the spoils. Like Otherworld and the infiltration. Turned fighter against fighter.]

[Killed Crona. He killed Crona.]

[the broken body, carrying her home, knowing she'd never speak again... they'd never have a chance to be friends...]

[And in her mind, for a brief instant, she saw Ibuki there.]


[THAT CAN'T HAPPEN.]

[Zahi has to be stopped!!]




[--Control!!]

[Otoha, Colin, Zuko. Her friends. They warned her, each of them...spoke to her of control. The danger allies faced when Ikuri lost control. If she ran after him now, that leaves Ibuki alone. Unprotected. Zahi could kill her.]

[...There will be blood later. Right now, Ibuki's safety is the absolute first priority; no enemy will come before her life.]

Ibuki. [Ikuri's already moving towards her, putting her arms 'round and pulling her near - but not, for one second, taking her eyes off the strangers. It's a deathglare that says you're soup if you try anything.]

Ibuki, we need to go. We need to go, Ibuki.

[Quieter now, next to the girl's ear. Gentle, but insistent. It's not safe, you have to be safe.]

[If any of the new NPCs wander over to the garden area, there's a good chance they'll catch Ghaleon there tending to the flowers and chatting with one or more of the fairies. Yep, those are still here.

He'll greet anyone who approaches politely.]

[Sure, a couple of the curious NPCs will head over to the gardens to look. It's been a while since they've seen plants that are both pretty and won't kill them.

When they see Ghaleon, they wave to him.]

[Conversation? ...well, maybe not if she's left to her own devices. She's mostly gonna be watching you guys.]

[And her emotions are gonna be written on her face. Not trusting you lot at all.]


[Also if you go near Ibuki at any time it's guaranteed she's hovering somewhere nearby and her face is considerably uglier for it.]

[Zero is over talking to Ibuki, and they totally just danced in a circle. Want to go lurk by them?]
