I'm proposing we do something nice and cooperative. Self-serving, certainly. But if we work with her to get a core, even if there is no core... Well, that does weaken their leader's position that we're heartless murderers, doesn't it?

We don't even need to convince her. The chance to get out of that cell, the chance to be out in the open, the chance to get away OR help her people... she'll leap on that. If she DOESN'T, then we've got real trouble.

[He smirks at Psii.]

If we force her to help, it'll just confirm her feeling that we're the bad guys, but being nice won't suddenly change her mind either. When you're as desperate as they are, it takes a lot to reexamine your actions.

This plan sounds risky, and I don't like the idea of sending a small force. Maybe a bit more than the number you mentioned, Colin? Two fighters just doesn't seem like enough to handle both Red and whatever trap there might be there, unless one of them is Tobias or Meg or someone else who can quickly get backup.

Unless...what about having a secondary team nearby, to help the first?

A second team? I don't see why that couldn't work. Havin' backup right there is better than none at all.

A second team is possible, but it also takes away from our defenders here.

This is just me, but I don't think the main threat's going to be at the quarry. I can't imagine why they'd try to get us out there unless it's to weaken us here. If we responded to this plan like it were an actual core, we'd be sending out a lot of fighters.

But I'll leave that up to everyone who wants to go out there. As long as we can keep a defensive force here too, we'll be okay.

A telepathic scout will be amazingly useful. If you think you're up to it, everyone would benefit from it.

That's what we thought when they called us out to the lagoon.

We can take two small teams. I like the idea of having backup that Red doesn't know about.

The second team can stay in contact with the Bastion, and get back quickly if there's any trouble here. If it's Megaera and Tobias, they could be back instantly.

It could be two small teams, maybe 3-5 each? And we could keep our biggest members, like Paarthurnax, here in the Bastion in case something happens. Besides, we have the violence failsafe, so even if we got attacked it's not like they could do anything.

[He has a smart reply for Zuko, but for now he'll sit on it. IF he needs it, he can pull it out later.]

If everyone's comfortable with that, I've got no problem with it. I'll be staying here, though. I want to keep an eye on my defenses.

Also... Unless anyone has any objection, I think we should try to extend the act of goodwill a little further. Throw Red off balance a little. I propose we should give her amulet the healing ability.

From everything we've learned, their group DOES need some sort health management. And I'm not all that comfortable offering to go to them and play doctor.

Of course, it could easily be used to patch up some of their wounded to fight, but it's nothing they can use to attack in and of itself. Another peace offering to go along with this.

Healing potions, maybe. Nothing long-term. Hell, I'd even go to patch them up myself. But you don't want to give them anything they can use forever. If they want help, they have to keep playing nice. Maybe they'll get a grudge from it, but they did attack us first.

I am easy to hide, but with my dragonstone and my other form, I'm much stronger... I would like to help defend you all. But an offering of peace should come first.

Gotta agree with the potion idea. If we do give them a further peace offering it shouldn't be something long-term yet. Later maybe, but not right now.

Whatever we decide, we should probably figure it out and get goin' fast. If this really is a trap, they're gonna get antsy the longer we take to fall in to it.

What are we afraid they'll do with a healing ability? Not use it on us? Every time she uses it, they'll have to remember where she got it. Denial can go a long way, but that could chip away at it. They'll think differently if they have to buy our goodwill.

[She looks to Myrrh. She's hesitant to take someone along that she doesn't really know, but... dragon. She seems like a good candidate for the back-up team.]

I think potions are a good idea too, but the whole point of this is to show them that we're not trying to be a bunch of haves against their have nots.

If we can make them ask questions of their supposed advisor, we stand a better chance of stopping this before it gets worse.

... I guess. I'm not great at strategy, but I still don't think it's the best idea to start handing things out to people who attacked us and killed someone that a lot of people cared about.
