He said you were all greedy, that you wouldn't let a large group of outsiders come in. He said that you had rejected another group before, and that you were afraid of being outvoted when it came to serious stuff.

[It's hard to keep himself still, to not yell out that they're wrong, but he's had enough experience controlling himself.]

<That's wrong. We all know it is. We did offer to take them in, and some of them took us up on it... I have to wonder who this leader is... or if it's someone inside our own camp.>

[He nods, making it appear as if he's considering what Orange is saying, but in reality acknowledging Tobias' thoughts on the matter. The boy has a good point: what if the leader is someone inside the Bastion?

Hm. If it's the same group I'm thinking of, I'm not sure how he arrived at that conclusion. They were offered their own homes in the Bastion, and some of them even decided to take it.

If you don't mind my asking, your leader does have others check if his information is correct before making his decisions, I hope?

I don't know, but why does that matter? He needs us as much as we need him, he wouldn't lie to us.

[She sounds VERY doubtful now, though. Could he be lying? He had said that the Bastion residents refused others, but now people are saying otherwise, and she doesn't know what to think.]

Oh, I'm not saying that he's necessarily lying. I've never met him, so I can't say if he is or isn't the sort to lie to get what he wants. One can easily tell others something they sincerely believe and not be telling the truth.

This, my dear, is why I ask if he has others to check his conclusions against. A leader who sincerely believes that what they do is right who is operating on incorrect assumptions can be just as damaging as one who intentionally misleads others for their own gain.
