Everything fades away, come turning of the tide | Day 332 [OPEN]
Who: Rose Quartz, OPEN
Open: Open
When: Evening of 332
Where: Monument -> Rose's house
What: Most of the Bastion is grieving, angry, or trying to deal with said emotions. Rose? She's just trying to settle in to this strange new life of hers.
Format: Action
Warnings: Possible spoilers for Steven Universe? Also possible talk of war and the like
[Not everyone was affected by events recently passed in the Bastion. As much as Rose would have liked to say she had a feeling regarding it one way or another, she really couldn't. This place was still new to her. It's people were still new to her. The passing of one whom she had never spoken to was sad and she was more than understanding at the sorrow the others around her felt...
It was just not an emotion she herself could dredge up properly.
There were always going to be casualties, and for as peaceful as the Bastion itself was their situation was hardly peaceful at all. Time would pass as it always did, regardless of how any of them dealt with it.
In the quiet that had settled on the Bastion in more current days, Rose had spent time on the Skyway as she always did, hoping for some hint of her Gems out there in the haze. There was none, but she returned with a good haul of shards in the meantime.
Today, however, she wasn't out there like she normally had been. Instead she could be seen, barefoot as always, taking trips from the house with the observatory room to the Monument and back again. Three times she went, carrying a wooden flat of some sort of strange plant. A fourth time she returned not with a plant but a shimmering pink weapon at her side.
Though she'll hardly expect to be approached given how busy everyone must be, she'll certainly respond if anyone does.]

[He looks up at her as she comes back, and he nods at her.]
Miss.
[His eyes drop slightly and linger on the weapon, but after a moment he returns to his work.]
I don't believe we've met before.
no subject
A voice speaking to her does pull her dark gaze away from it, though, offering a warm smile at the greeting.]
I don't believe so, no.
no subject
[He gives her a small smile, though it's pretty easy to see that it's a little forced.]
Hopefully I'm not in your way. I'm setting up some connections here, it's gonna be a little while before I'm done.
no subject
[She can respect that.]
No, not at all. I just finished getting what I needed, in fact.
no subject
[He gives the monument a quick look, but the thing still eludes him. Some day he'll be able to tell when this thing has been used.]

[and she's not going to be terribly subtle about coming by to gawk, either. still learnin' some social graces, this one...]
no subject
Not that Rose is ever bothered by a lack of social graces. She does live-- or lived, rather -- with Amethyst. It's not like Gems are entirely up on "normal" human customs after all.
The staring does get her attention after a time, though, and she offers a very warm smile with a wave. Hello stranger!]

[o-oh]

[darn]
[well come on, Ikuri, we established you weren't being subtle][h-have a sheepish wave back]
no subject
But that's okay, Rose will just smile more. It's okay, you can talk to her.]

Of course Ikuri didn't try following her inside, so that is a bit... odd. The following, she didn't mind so much. That on the other hand...
Well, she won't be rude or angry about it. More confused, and offering an uncertain wave along with a confused:]
Hello... ?
no subject
[This isn't the time for hellos, just let her follow you into your house.]
no subject
But now Rose is just. Confused.]

She caught Rose on one of her wanderings, with the strange plant. Huh. Large woman with a strange plant. Should she approach?
... No, instead she's just gonna stare awkwardly. Because what are people skills. ]
no subject
Unfortunately, Takane, if you're ever going to get to know this lovely giant lady, you'll have to get over that little hiccup and approach.]
no subject
Takane finally does pipe up, though she doesn't move from where she is. ]
What's that you've got?
no subject
Moss.

But she holds it better than others, she thinks—she has to, anyway; she's a magical girl. In the wake of all this, she has to find a way to be useful. So, okay, even though the giant pink lady does get some staring, she has the social skills to hustle over and approach while Rose makes her way between home and the monument.]
Hey! 'scuse me, ma'am, do you need help carrying that?
no subject
It's not like she truly understood grief, anyway...
But she had expected to be rather alone with all of that going on, so hearing a voice call out to her directly was surprising.]
O-oh. Hello! I think I'm doing alright on my own, but I wouldn't mind help.
no subject
Anything to lighten the load a little, right? Just tell me what goes where!
no subject
[She pointed in the direction of the place she had chosen as her own. One of the flats was already sitting just outside the door, making it obvious where things were supposed to go.]
no subject
So have a long-haired man in a tank top, cargo shorts, and mammoth-hide sandals, with a battered leather satchel slung across his chest. He's broad-shouldered and looks like he could do some damage in a fight, the glowing-eyed rabbit skull-and-bones necklace he's wearing and the ragged, ugly scars on his left cheek and left shoulder not making him look any less like a tough guy. When he speaks though his voice is rather low and would be hard to hear if there were too much background noise.]
Hey, uh, what kinda plant is that, if, uh, you don't mind me asking?
[Starting up a conversation with a stranger is hard.]
no subject
Holding the flat carefully, Rose turns with a smile and answers:]
Moss.
[... so descriptive.]
no subject
I'm, uh, I'm assuming it's not just regular moss? Otherwise you probably wouldn't have had the Monument make it.
no subject
Well, that would depend on your definition of "normal". Where I'm from, this is a common flora. If we were on Earth, that would be another story entirely.
