With a lack of moon in Bastion, Saix knows that he's no longer at his full strength. If he were better with magic, he could augment his battle skills with that... But it's never been his strong point. It's not a pleasant thing to be weakened. So, of course, Saix has decided he won't settle for it. After going to talk with the local smith, he's made an agreement with the other.

It just so happens that he's decided to drag along his fellow Nobodies as well.

[You guys weren't doing anything, right? Because Saix is going to hunt you two down.]

[Hey, Roxas was totally doing... not much of anything, really. Saix may find him outside somewhere, writing in his journal. Of course he'll snap the book shut as soon as he notices the other approaching.]

[Saix is actually somewhat impressed that Roxas still writes in a journal. Still, he just comes closer with that usual serious face of his.]

You're not doing anything, are you?

[Said with the kind of "I know you aren't" tone.]

[He might be less impressed if he knew its content.]

[What are you trying to recruit him for.]

I think we've spent enough days here recuperating. [Even if Saix has been doing the exact opposite of that.] I thought you would be interested in exploring the area outside of the Bastion with me.

[Translation: I just want to use your skill in battle while I get some stuff. Maybe physical labor.]

[He doesn't do song lyrics. Partly because he doesn't actually know any.

He gives Saix a blank look for a moment because he just cannot get used to this thing where you talk to him without being a total asshole.]

[You're not suggesting just the two of us go because that would be super weird and awkward.]

[He can go back to that if you want, Roxas.]

No, not yet. I had assumed he would be with you.

[Now he has to spend more time hunting down that jerk, dangit.]

[No. No we're good. This just requires a period of adjustment.]

[Roxas picks himself up, assuming this means they're going to go look for him together.]

If he's not at the apartment, maybe he took the chocobos out somewhere.

Well, it shouldn't be too difficult to find Axel if Saix is that hellbent about finding him for something, but there's no promises he's doing anything particularly important or interesting, at least for Saix. For Axel though? A nap is a very, very important and interesting thing. And that's what he'll be taking, somewhere outside under the shade of a tree where it's nice and peaceful and quiet.

Mmm. Naps.]

[croceamors]

[Goddammit, Axel, why are you always asleep? He swears it's that, or playing parent to young teenagers. What is he going to do with you?]

[Well, right now, wake you up, and he will accomplish that by giving a loud and sharp clap right by Axel's ears. WAKEY WAKEY, JACKASS]

[flared]

[Mm. What a lovely dream about ice cream he's having. He likes ice cream. Likes it very, very much. Come here, ice cream. Don't run away. Axel just wants to be your fr-- JESUS CHRIST WHAT WAS THAT.]

Whoa!

[Axel wakes up with a start, sitting up and reflexively swinging an arm out as if something's about to attack him. But as it turns out, it's just Saix hovering over him like a creepy shadow. Growling, Axel rests back down on the ground, an arm draped over his eyes.]

Man, what the heck?

[Or Axel could be napping. That would have been Roxas's next guess. He's about to open his mouth to try waking him when Saix just... does that. He gives the other a sidelong glance.]

Jeez. Did you have to do it like that?

[croceamors]

Yes.

[What a silly question, Roxas. Saix straightens up and crosses his arms over his chest.]

I assume you've recovered fully then, Axel?

[flared]

[Geez, talk about a rude awakening.

Axel rubs at his face before he glares up at Saix.]

More or less.

[he grumbles before turning to face Roxas. Hello, bestie.]

What're you two doing here?

[Sorry about that, bestie. Roxas scratches his head.]

Saix wants to explore outside.

[croceamors]

Good.

[Saix nods to Roxas' explanation before adding to it.]

It'd be a smart idea to keep our skills sharp considering the nature of this place seems to be much more dangerous than Vatheon was. Besides, we should get to know the lay of the land.

[flared]

[Not your fault. It's all blue-y's fault over here.

Sighing roughly, Axel turns onto his side, supporting his head with an arm.]

Exploring, huh.

[He yawns, eyes shutting once more.]

That's all fine and dandy, but I think I'm more interested in the fact that both of you are actually interacting like normal people. What's up with that?

[Side-eyeing Saix again.]

He's been acting weird since before we left Vatheon. You didn't notice?

[Roxas doesn't know what's up with it, but he figured Axel had some kind of clue. Maybe not.]

You two shouldn't act as though it's such a strange occurrence. When it benefits me, I can be perfectly civil.

[Rude, Roxas. Saix scowls.]

I have not been acting weird.

[You know who's not going to mention the exorcism, he's not going to.]

[Axel smirks, his eyes still shut. How cute. Roxas is out of the loop and Saix doesn't even know what the hell he's saying. Sometimes he wonders about his well-being when he hangs around such socially awkward people.]

Oh, that's right, Roxas. You weren't there for Saix's big day, were you~?

Big day?

[Roxas glances at Saix again in confusion. Well, he's not exactly surprised he didn't hear about it from Saix, but it would be nice to be told if something important was going on.

[Times likes this makes Saix wonder why he still keeps Axel around. He tenses up, arms crossing over his chest and that scowl getting all the more pronounced.]

It's nothing that concerns you, Roxas. [He brushes some hair away from his face and, just briefly, rubs at the skin beneath his mismatched eyes. Now that they're sort of talking about it, he can't stop thinking about everything and what it means for him.]
