I don't think so. You can offer it other food, of course, but it seems like the species is carnivorous. It's probably evolved to only really get nourishment from meat.
You can try, of course... but don't get your hopes up. In the meantime, you just work on teaching it to know when feeding time is, and to know that food comes from you, not to get its own.
