By tomorrow dubbed a mystery [Day 259 :: OPEN]
Who: N, Swablu, other Pokemon, and YOU
Open: Open
When: Day 259
Where: Pokemon Daycare
What: Well, it's about time one of them evolved, isn't it?
Format: Starting action, will follow
Warnings: Nope
[The end of the world brings about many changes. Obvious things aside, it was nearly impossible for an individual to not be affected in some way by it. Not all changes were positive, of course, and N would be the first to admit that his arrival in the Bastion and the months following had been rife with just as many steps backwards as forwards.
But that's not to say he hadn't grown in some way. The biggest change really had to be his attitude regarding Pokemon battles. Once a subject that brought nothing but contempt and heartache from him, his travels in his own world as well as his time in the Bastion had reshaped his ideals that he no longer sneered at the idea. In fact he was beginning to see it as almost necessary - not just for the mental health of the Pokemon who were the last of their kind in this place, but for the safety of themselves and the people they had become close to.
Not everyone could fight, after all, but all Pokemon could. And that was the important thing. Battling, as much as N had detested it in the past, was essential to keeping a Pokemon's strength, skill and agility up while also keeping them active in a place that no longer had the wide open world to explore in.
Sometimes when training his slowly growing team the words of his father would echo quietly in his mind, telling him that he was wrong and that the people in his life were corrupting him some how, but they were thoughts much more easily shook off then they once had been.
Even if, sometimes, he still felt just as worthless as he had the day Ghetsis turned against him.
That was far from his mind, though, as he had Woobat and Swablu facing off in a friendly battle in the yard of the daycare. Older than a lot of the newly hatched Pokemon but still younger than many that arrived with their trainers, Swablu was finally beginning to come in to his own in those battles.]
Swablu, watch out--!
[Even if... he was still somewhat reckless when it came to flying.
The fluffy winged blur bird careened off course, narrowly avoiding a swipe from Woobat only to bounce off one of the berry trees in the yard and send it's current crop raining down on the soil below.
N sighed and shook his head, but only after Swablu righted himself and showed that he wasn't injured.]
You need to be more careful...
Swaaaab...
I know. Try again, okay? Now, Take Down!
Swab!
[Swablu turned back to Woobat and attempted to charge with the ordered attack. For a moment it seemed spot on, that Swablu would hit exactly as instructed. At the last second, though, Woobat dodged to the side and launched an Air Slash at the bird.
With a 'squack!' noise Swablu went tumbling away, rolling to a rest at N's feet where his fluffy wings flopped at his sides. He looked up at his trainer with a disappointed whine to which N knelt down and rubbed his head gently.]
You'll get there.
Swab...
[Swablu righted himself as Woobat came to join them, but rather than a calm ending to the battle something else entirely started to happen. Swablu began to glow!]
Ah--!
[N's Swablu is evolving! Obviously this needs to be checked out!]
