"Assuming planets were in fact completely destroyed - which unless someone's witnessed that happening seems like an overly-large assumption to make - why just planets? Shouldn't there be sections of stellar atmospheres showing up here too, if the effect is random and/or attracted to concentrations of matter?"
He remembered something that Colin had said earlier and looked up.
"What's so special about people that they get drawn to the source of the problem? That seems more like a plot contrivance for a science fiction story that something you'd expect to see in reality."
