[Day 160 | OPEN] Bored Rai is Bored

What: Raimundo is bored so he's out exploring the Skyway. Alone. Boy isn't that smart, is he?

Warnings: Possible monster interactions/snark galore.

"Who knew the end of the world would be so boring?" Rai asked himself as he walked along the ever expanding ground that was the Skyway. He watched as the rock and earth came rushing up just ahead of him as he wondered onward into the endless nothing. The thought had crossed his mind that this might be the whole ten thousand years of darkness thing that Master Fung had warned them all about but if this was it, it should have been called the ten thousand years of nothing to do.

"I mean, work work work. That's all they do. What kind of fun is that? Take a bath, drink, cook, work, or walk around. That's it? No way." Rai shook his head and stopped when he came to a fork in the Skyway.

"Hmm...left or right? There has got to be something around here..." He pulled one hand out of his hoodie pockets and started moving it back and forth between his choices.

"Might as well. Inny. Mini. Minnie. Mo. Catch a Dojo by his non-existent toe. If he whines about it, let him go. Wuya told me to pick the best one and you are it." His finger landed on the left path. "Left it is." With a kick of a rock down the left path, he started walking again. Too bad he had no idea just where his chosen path was leading him.

[As it turns out, the path leads to a certain resident of the Bastion making a snack out of a Squirt. Well, presumably there are other things further on, but that's the first thing of note.]

[That isn't what Raimundo expects while he's out here. He stops and stares for a good long moment. And I mean stares. His eyes wide open, his arms falling slightly in front of him, and a look on his face that can be only translated as; 'wtf am I looking at?']

...Are you eating a giant tadpole?

[The fact that he now has an audience doesn't faze Alucard in the least. In fact, the only reaction he gives is to fix his own gaze on the boy, raise a single eyebrow as if to say "Yes, and?", and continue right on eating as if this is completely normal.]

I've heard of eating gross things in an emergency but...a giant tadpole? Really. That can't taste good.

[Raimundo walks toward Alucard.]

Why not find something that actually tastes good? I mean...there are normal animals around here, aren't there?

...These are normal for this world.

[That, and and the Peckers and their brethren have come to recognize him as a predator. Sure, the mammoths are good, but it seems such a waste to have to kill a number of things defending himself and just leave all of the corpses to rot.

...Really Rai, you're probably just better off not questioning his dietary choices. This is not the most questionable thing he's ever eaten by any means.]

I...uh...

...Okay. You got me there. [He shakes his head. Looks like he's giving up there.]

So what's your name, or should I call you tadpole sucker?

[.....You are a bit of a rude child, aren't you?]

Alucard? Cool name. I'm Raimundo. So do you always come way out here to eat stuff? I mean, can't you catch them and just take them home or something?

[He's more than a bit rude. This boy isn't what one would call respectful. Sorry Alucard.]

There's something still bothering Ryu about the Skyway. In some hope there's something else out there he can recover. He figures it should be fine if he doesn't go too far out, right? Unfortunately for him, navigating a desert by stars and navigating the Skyway as it currently is are two completely different things. He finds himself a bit turned around, but catches sight of Raimundo.

"Excuse me! Are you searching for something out here?" He calls out to the other boy, closing the distance between the two. He doesn't recognize Rai, but he figures he must also be from the Bastion.

Raimundo turned around when he heard someone else's voice. He stared at the blue haired kid coming toward him. Blue hair. Must be a wig was his first thought. His second was of Kimiko, which he quickly shook out of his head. That wasn't going to help his mood any. He walked toward Ryu with his hands still stuck in his pants pockets.

"Just for something to do. What are you looking for dude?" Whoever this guy was, maybe he could keep Rai company. Talking to someone was at least something to do.

"I wanted to see if I could find anything else from home." He answers plainly. Truth be told there wasn't much of anything to begin with, but he figures it might be worth a second look. More than anything, he just wants something for sentimental value. "Something to hang onto, you know?"

The thought of someone coming out somewhere dangerous like the skyway because they were bored struck Ryu as a little odd, to say the least. "You sure it's safe enough out here to just be wandering around?"

"I get it. Not sure what you're going to find besides a rock or something." Raimundo kicked a rock off the Skyway for emphasis. He didn't really care what he found as long as it was something. Maybe a Gamepal or a Goo-Zombies Two baseball cap. That would be cool.

Rai scoffed and waved his hand dismissively. As if this place was going to throw something at him he couldn't handle. "I'm the Xiaolin Dragon of the Wind. I can handle myself."

"Xiaolin Dragon?" He asks with a particularly piqued interest. The other Ryu mentioned there were other dragons on the Bastion, but he either forgot or neglected to mention Raimundo. "You look human, though. Does that mean you can transform?"

It still feels extremely weird for him to talk about this stuff with other people, but the question is an important one to him.

"Yeah well...I don't do that." Raimundo said with a shrug. He never got around to asking about the whole dragon title thing. Not that it mattered. He wouldn't want to transform into a scaly fire-breathing lizard anyway. Not if Dojo was the standard.

"You look human too. And could a normal human do this?" Rai smirked as he bent his legs.

"Wind!" A massive gust of wind roared around him and Raimundo launched into the air. He held out his arms and started to fly around in circles. He made three before he lowered himself back down to the Skyway and landed on his feet. "See? That's how we kick it where I'm from."

"You've got me beat there." He notes with a bit of awe in his voice. He's certainly never seen a human that could fly, let alone without any wings. "So I guess being a Xiaolin Dragon is a kind of rank where you come from, right?"

Of course, he's been around his friends and his people so long at this point, sometimes it slips his mind only one other person at this point has an idea of who and what he is. He'll have to let them all know eventually.

"Rank. Yeah, you can say that." Raimundo put his hand on his chin and looked up. Rank. Like the one he didn't get. The anger came back some. He ground his teeth for a second and looked back to Ryu.

"...Enough about me. How about we get moving. Maybe we can find something from your home. That'll be interesting. Might even be fun."

"I'm not so sure about your idea of fun, but I wouldn't mind having someone watching my back." He answers with a slight frown. Truth be told, he's not even sure what he would be looking for anymore. They were half way through the desert when everything went up.

All that he could hope to find were their remains or maybe some camping supplies. Given how big the Skyway is, it's near impossible that he'll actually find anything. But that's not gonna stop him from trying.

"I haven't really figured out how to navigate out here yet. I only arrived this morning."

"I've been here a few days tops. You just gotta keep walking really. I just use the ancient method of inny minny miney moe. Hasn't steered me wrong yet. I keep going left." Raimundo shrugged and started walking again. "Let's just keep going. It isn't like we have to be back before a certain time. No sun and no clocks."

"That seems like an awfully carefree attitude for such a dangerous place." He answers back, following after Raimundo. Ryu figures he's either really strong, or really arrogant. If he was a betting man, he'd probably put a hefty wager on the latter.

"Truth be told, I'm not sure how much would be left if we can find anything. We were traveling through the desert back to Dragnier, and then I woke up here. All I saw was my tent all but burnt to a crisp."

"Why were you camping in the desert dude? Sounds like a bad road trip to me." Raimundo said without looking over his shoulder at Ryu. Rai was probably as arrogant as they came but he wasn't going to admit it. The arrogant ones never did. They came to another fork and he started pointed at them both alternately as he mumbled under his breathe and sure enough, he turned left.

He follows onward after Raimundo, sincerely hoping they don't end up lost. "We were heading back home. The Desert of Death was massive, it easily took almost a week of walking to get back." He mentions, though there's also the matter of monsters and traveling only during the night to account for.

"We had to be on guard and travel by the stars. It was the only way to know exactly which direction you were going. The Desert didn't have any landmarks."

The dragon of the Wind, in training, kept on walking. The Skyway continued to raise up in front of them. So far there wasn't anything that looked like a Desert around them as far as Rai could see.

"Sounds like a big hassle. You couldn't go around?" He had to ask since if it was so big, going around was probably not much of an option.

"The desert was surrounded with mountains and abandoned cities full of killer robots. Given how powerful some of them were, it made more sense to cross the desert. At least the creatures in the desert itself didn't prove to be a difficult challenge."

"We didn't have any way to fly, either." He answers after a moment, thinking Raimundo might suggest the idea. "But it was important we made the journey."

"Well that stinks. So what was so important that you had to get back anyway?" The road ahead continued to be clear for the two. Though up ahead there may be something waiting. Something hungry. Two boys traveling along out on the Skyway. They really weren't much of a possible force now, were they?

"I wanted to get back to my people. They set me on a path across the desert to fix something important." He's partially hoping he won't have to answer more questions, as he isn't sure how Raimundo would take the idea of someone fighting a Goddess.

Even if they're all stuck on a floating rock together.

"Right. I think I get it." Raimundo said. His tone turned sour as did his expression. "You get sent out to do something big and when you get back, you don't get any recognition for it. That's probably what was going to happen. Not even a pat on the back."

Perhaps he was speaking from experience?

"Recognition?" He asked, a slightly incredulous tone in his voice. "They said they had been waiting for me. Calling me their prince, but all I wanted to know was why things happened the way they did."

Ryu shakes his head, he isn't sure about Raimundo's previous experience, but he knows one thing for sure. "Glory didn't matter to me. It was always about learning the truth." He says after a moment of silence. For how many times he's had to draw his sword, he doesn't feel there was anything worth recognizing aside from understanding who he is.

"Dude, that sounds awesome. Prince's live in castles and luxury. You definitely should have ate it up. Why not? That's what I would do." Raimundo turned and walked backwards.

"I'm just talking about getting your due. Glory is awesome but I mean, why do anything if you don't get a little something for it, right?"

"Because I never wanted any of that. I was just a kid who grew up in the woods before everything started getting out of control. Even if I did think like that, my people had nothing from years of being hunted to extinction. It wouldn't have been right to force them to do something for me, but they did insist on treating us as honored guests."

Again, he shakes his head. "I don't really care about any of that. I just wanted my family and friends to be safe." And even that he couldn't have, given what happened to Teepo.

"Oh..." That was all Raimundo could think to say. This guy reminded him of Clay. That kind of attitude of taking care of your own and not wanting anything else. He missed his best friend. Or rather his ex-best friend. He was gone now. Or at least not here. Raimundo still wasn't sure about all of this yet.

"Well...as long as you're happy, I guess." The teen shrugged.

"As happy as we can manage, given the circumstances." He answered with a calm demeanor. In truth it hadn't hit him yet. Not fully, anyway. "I had a brother who would have agreed with you. He wanted people to acknowledge us, especially after we killed the Nue."

"I'd probably get along with your bro then. He sounds like my kind of guy." Rai tilted his head and came to a stop.

"The Nue? What the heck is a nue?"

"It's a big monster with snake heads for a tail, an ape-like face, and jumps around on all fours. It's really big, really scary, and shoots lightning." He answered. At least, it was really big to him when he was a kid.

"He was so happy people liked us after we killed it."

"I'm happy you killed it. Sounds ugly. And really nasty. We don't have anything like that in my world. Or...I don't think we do." Now he was wondering if they had back when his world was still in one piece.

His thoughts are interrupted though by a noise down the Skyway. Raimundo turned and looked ahead. Sure enough, there was a squirt. It was just one it seemed, slowly floating down the Skyway. It squeaked every now and then and seemed to be watching the two dragons.

"What the heck is that?"

Ryu raises an eyebrow, regarding the creature with a little caution. "I dunno. I've never seen anything like it before, but it seems pretty small. Most animals won't bother you unless you seem like a threat." He answers, which is why he keeps his sword sheathed.

"It'll probably just move on if we don't bother it."
