[Shows him what he gets for forgetting.]

[Sighing at the ridiculousness, he settles down besides her so that she can get a good look at the book as he opens it to one of the bookmarked places.]

[They're photographs, page after page of perfectly taken photographs. All the people in it seem unaware of anything being taken, living perfectly in the moment.]

[Zulf's in nearly all of them.]

[One of them is the scene of a bar- low and warmly lit, a large crowd of people squeezed into a corner table, shoulder to shoulder to shoulder. There's all sorts, but they're all noticeably Caelondian with brown or blond hair and that tanned skin of theirs. Zulf is right in the middle, gesturing to a glass of something with an exaggerated look of disgust on his face. On his left is a rather beautiful young woman, curling blonde hair falling past her shoulders as she laughs so hard with one hand to her mouth and the other clutching her stomach. She's leaning against him, and neither seems to notice. On his other side are obvious triplets, hair pale blond and cut into short bobs, eyes bright with mischief. It's obvious they're arguing with him, one with their hands cupped to their mouth in an obvious 'boo'ing gesture. The whole scene is warm and light hearted.]

[Another photo has a crowded marketplace, Zulf leaning forward slightly at the stall of a pair of people. One dark skinned and with bright red hair, her green eyes sharp and her hands pointing towards Zulf. The other much shorter, dark brown hair a curly mess and his hands spread out while his amber eyes stare up at the other man. It's obviously an excited discussion between the two of them over the many pouches hanging from the stall and lined up along it.]

[Something almost noticeable... is how much happier Zulf looks in all the photos. There's no heavy regret or sadness or bubbling anger in those dark eyes from the past, no lines under his eyes. His gestures, caught mid-action, seem more open. He smiles unrestrained. It's something one might not even notice until they have the photos and Zulf himself as comparisons.]

[Zulf just sighs.]

There used to be a bar in the very heart of Caelondia where everyone would gather. I've never run into a place so overflowing with gossip, although that meant it was never a dull place. There was a beautiful singer who used to play there, too. I'll never forget the sound of her voice.
