This isn't how I've programmed Wonderland to look...
Who: Nezumi, Shion, Bon, Marie & Crona
When: Day 67
Where: Starting at the Skyway and heading back to Bastion.
What: Nezumi & Shion interrupt today's scheduled exploring to bring you the letter D. As in disbelief and distrust.
Format: Action
Warnings: Possible dried blood and threats of violence? Snark and sarcasm?
[Something... wasn't right. Not right at all, because Nezumi was pretty sure they'd only just pulled into the garage of his - now their's - apartment building. He was also pretty sure that neither he nor Shion were so worn down by the day's events that they would have blacked out before reaching the safety of the apartment on their own.
Which means the uneasy feeling that has him jolting awake without moving? Means that something outside his control had done so and that was never a good thing and so he remains still and waits... and waits a little longer... listening to the area around him but nothing.
Well, nothing outside the steady rise and fall of Shion's own breathing somewhere off to his left.
And so, after an extra minute or three (just to be safe) he slowly opens his eyes, blinks, then blinks some more because this? Looks like some half-assed attempt at reprogramming one of HostWorld's holodecks. The image wasn't even complete. Of course, the fact that they were no where near L8 or his place of employment meant that this was probably some idiot hacker's attempt at coding a virus. Quite possibly a variant of whatever the Red Alice virus had been.
And so he starts to sit up, annoyed enough at the lackluster work in coding to prompt him to trace the virus back and show the idiot how something like this is really done when a chill runs down his spine and he simply reacts. A quick roll to the side, towards Shion, has him stopping in a kneel, his pistol out of the inner-pocket of his jacket and safety off.
There's the faint sting of something scratching along his cheek as he rolls to a stop and then three rapid shots fired, leaving him staring, nonplussed, at the remains of a spiky purple plant give way to an even more suspicious stationary-looking cloud of smoke in disbelief before he reaches up to brush the back of his hand across the warmth on his cheek. It comes away red and he frowns even more, eyes wary and alert just in case there was more than one of the weird plants.
...Safety protocols have been disabled? Don't tell me this is some knock-off version of Alice, because if it is, I have to say, it's rather uninspiring.
[A beat, before he cuts a calm gaze down at the other with him.]
You alright, Shion? Not hit anywhere?

But something else was wrong here.]
Nezumi? I thought... we were going to your apartment?
[Forgive the dazed and confused tone as actually, he had thought they'd arrived, but then he had to have fallen asleep right? Because that was definitely not where they were now.]
What's... all this?
[He would venture a guess that it's VR since there was no way this was 1) real 2) outside 3) anywhere he'd ever seen on the upper levels.]
-- Wait, why are you shooting?! And your face...! What happened?
[If there is anything to clear away some of the cobwebs the sudden arrival had caused, seeing Nezumi hurt or threatened is it.]

[All that and yet Shion managed to not answer Nezumi's own question. Still, that the airhead could rattle on so much was enough of an indicator that he was alright and that was answer enough, he supposed.
Didn't make it any less irritating, however.
Even so, he shifted to the side a bit more while sparing Shion an exasperated glance, then flicked his gaze back up to the side once more to watch the strange gas disappear. Even then, he didn't lower his firearm.]
Do you remember when I told you about the Red Alice virus? Well... I think this is something similar, but incomplete. The program is flawed and the best part? Whomever wrote this hasn't integrated the safety protocols yet. Which means the monsters here really can injure.

Red eyes narrow as Shion pushes himself to his feet and finally gets a good look around.] Incomplete in more than just one way, unless this was... intentional...
[He shakes his head and turns his gaze back to his friend.] I'm guessing it won't be easy to hack out of it then or we wouldn't still be here... Are you okay?

Marie still hoped for someone in particular.
As it was, she was out with the little group for today's venture, not that it'd be immediately obvious to the newcomers. No, what would be obviously was the Gasfella that soared through the air like a majestic bird (no, not really, more like it had all the grace of a rock) from quite a distance away to crash into the ground near Shion and Nezumi.
Her voice carries particularly well: ]
Since the monster went there, that's got to be a good direction.
[ Maybe... maybe she shouldn't be choosing the directions they go. Well, really, she'd go wherever anyone else wanted them to. There had been quite a racket somewhere, after all. ]

But Crona's just going to follow along, because well, Crona is pretty good at following Marie.]
... do we want to follow the monster?
no subject
No seriously, what the fuck.
Why would you even do something like that to figure out which way to go?]
That's going to attract all kinds of-
[His line of sight goes from the mostly-dead Gasfella over to the pair of teens somewhat near it. It was Shion's hair that Bon had noticed at first, actually, since white hair stands out.]
-wait a second, what's that over there?
[Now he's pointing at Shion and Nezumi. They're a bit farther away, so Bon is not sure if he's seeing things or not.]
no subject
People.
[Thank you Crona for that insightful response.]
no subject
[ ...yeah. ]

To his credit, at least he didn't automatically hide behind Nezumi, in fact, he's somewhat struggling to not back away further just in case it gets up and goes after the other. Also, at least he wasn't asking the other if he knew what it was, because his guess was "not a clue."]
Think it's dead...?

[With that, Bon will start moving down the Skyway towards Shion and Nezumi.]
Oi! Stay away from that thing!
no subject
It should be now.
[Right before he draws his second pistol and aims them both at the approaching strangers.]
That's close enough. So - you the programmers or were you sucked into this half-assed VR as well?

Speaking of that... With one of them stepping defensively forward to meet Nezumi's own defensive stance, he figures maybe he should speak up.]
Ah, hello! [Lifting a hand to wave to show he wasn't dangerous, he steps forward, the other hand going to Nezumi's shoulder, hoping he'll hold back.] We're a little confused and maybe lost. Did you all wake up in this game too?

Bon, who normally has a cool head when certain stupid half-demons aren't involved, starts to suffer from a twitchy eyebrow and an annoyed voice. He'll also be moving past Crona so he can be more easily seen, though he stops once he's past Crona to avoid looking like a threat, if he can.]
This isn't a game! I know this looks weird, but this is real life, and you're in very real danger of getting your head smashed in if that thing wakes up!
no subject
[ Because that's the most important part of this situation. ]
