Day 288

Who: Paarthurnax and you
Open: Open
When: 288
Where: About the Bastion in general
What: The daily life of a dragon
Format: Any
Warnings: None yet

Life goes on in the Bastion. Whether death, calamity, or simple misfortune, that is how things work. That is how it goes for Paarthurnax, as well.

In the morning, when the sun is still faint, he takes off to the Skyway and doesn't return for some hours, bringing back both shards stuck in his teeth and the meat of a mammoth to eat, or share.

In the noon and some hours following it, he teaches his class at the stone tablet with its letters in his own tongue, patient and careful for both new students and more practiced ones alike.

The only change to this seems to come in the evening. It's then that people might notice him at the Monument, drawn up high as he sits and inspects the device.

People are free to talk with him during any of these times. Paarthurnax has always made it known that he can be approached, after all.

[Zuko's been absent a few days, but she returns today, looking a little better rested at least. Kizuna is with her as usual and is 110% fascinated by everything Paarthurnax does. Mommy is great and all but Kizuna has figured out that they don't look much alike-- she doesn't have wings or a tail or anything, but Paar does. Throughout the lesson, Kizuna is pretty much trying to mimic every movement he makes. Which is a little distracting sometimes for Zuko, but she doesn't seem to mind.]

[Excited by the attention, Kizuna turns in a circle on Zuko's knee before trying to puff back at him. It sounds rather like a tiny sneeze. Zuko watches with a smile.]

Looks like you've got two lessons going on.

She is well. Aren't you, Kizuna?

[Kizuna doesn't know what's being said but uncle dragon is coming closer and she's gonna try to reach up for a nose touch!]

[Nose touch! And then yeah she's kind of bowled over. But she's back on her feet again quickly enough, climbing up to where she was with an air of "let's go again!"]

I'm sure she will, eventually. [She's still not sure how long that'll take.]
daughterofursa: (when you think about it)

[Zuko shakes her head, watching Kizuna repeat the process and then giving her a little headpat once she's back on her feet.]

Not really. She was skittish at first but the more people she meets, the more she seems to like it.

[Probably because they're kind of spoiling her.]
daughterofursa: (headscratch)

... Yeah.

[A slight hesitation there because there are some not so good people in it, too, and one of them is related to her.]
daughterofursa: (if it comes to it)

My sister's here.

She's... better than when I last saw her. And there's no war here. But I'm still worried, I guess.
daughterofursa: (headscratch)

Yeah.

Right now, she thinks she can find a way back home. She'll work with us as long as she believes that.

But I don't know if it's even possible, and if it is, it's definitely not going to be as easy as she thinks. She's not used to things not working out her way.
daughterofursa: (sorry it had to end this way)

That... about sums it up, yeah.

I don't know how much I'll be able to help her. She's never listened to me.
