[Day 241] This can only end well
Who: Paarthurnax and whoever wants to get involved in Grampa's first cooking attempt
Open: Open
When: 241
Where: At the giant cooking pit behind the Distillery
What: Someone probably should have given the dragon cooking lessons before he got curious.
Format: Anything
Warnings: There's a giant dead mammoth in this log.
Back in Skyrim, dragons most often didn't bother with cooking their food- or in the time when their Empire ruled strong, having others cook for them. It was seen as a rather foolish mortal sort of thing. Besides, it was more thrilling to snap your jaws down on living things.
With Paarthurnax in particular, he's only needed to eat simply to keep himself going since he'd been in self-imposed isolation on a mountaintop before the Calamity struck. Here, he's... mostly kept to such a simple diet. However, there have been delicious exceptions and now, well.. Now he's decided to indulge in some curiosity.
That's why some residents of the Bastion may spot him today dragging a freshly killed mammoth over to the fire pit behind the Distillery and inspecting the fire pit there. There's a short shout to ignite the fire inside and then...
Okay you just put the corpse on the fire right??? He only has a vague idea of how one cooks.

Special occasion?
[She's never seen him cook his food before, after all. But as she comes over, she makes a face. That is... burning fur, isn't it.]
I don't think it's supposed to smell like that.

[Thanks Roathus! You're a pal.]
[There is a small pause of consideration at Zuko's last words.]
Hm. Possibly not.
no subject
[Zuko rather appreciated that, too.]
...you just threw the whole animal on, didn't you?
no subject
...It is how I have seen some cook rats in the wilderness.
no subject
[Yeah, she's gonna cover her nose with a hand now.]
no subject
[He just tears into his food on the basis of no fingers.]

[Paarthurnax has plenty of sharp things on his body, but she doesn't know how precise he could be with any of them. Also she's never skinned an animal herself.]
no subject
[So for now he just gives a thoughtful nod.]
It would be difficult to one that would fit appropriately between my teeth.
no subject
Maybe most of the fur will just... burn off. [She grimaces at that thought, but at this point, well. It's already on the fire.]
no subject
Mm. Perhaps. Shall I keep it where it is, then?

[The burning hair smell really turned her off to it, much as she's enjoyed mammoth in the past.]
You should ask Rin for tips next time.

[You're one to talk, Zuko.]
