lap six // day 237 (open)

Who: Aoi and anyone!
Open: Completely ajar.
When: Throughout day 237 (there are options!).
Where: Out and about (again, options!).
What: I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT HAVING WIFI AGAIN THAT I'M JUST GONNA PUT AOI EVERYWHERE A day in the life of a donut-loving ditz.
Warnings: N/A; will edit as they come up.

A: Stupidly Early Morning/Sunrise (out + about)
[Aoi wakes up with the sun—not that there's any real sun here, but she follows the light source's metaphorical rising, anyway. It's far too early for any reasonable human being to be awake, is the point, but no one's ever considered Aoi to be a particularly reasonable individual.

Anyone else up and at 'em as the first few slivers of the day's light stretch across the Bastion will likely see Aoi at some point during her daily jog. She waves at everyone she passes by, but won't pause to run in place unless spoken to.
]

B: Morning (pool)
[By the time most everyone's woken up and the Bastion starts bustling, Aoi has finished up her jog and her breakfasst. Running around doesn't make for nearly enough pre-lunch exercise, though, so her next stop is the pool. She uses it no more or less often than the lake, but some days her bones crave for structure and form in lanes and laps.

The door to the building is left open, so it won't be hard to find Aoi racing back and forth across the pool. There's no crowd and certainly no opponents beside her, but fighting apart the waves, she can pretend, for moments at a time, she's racing; it forces a little more anxiety into her heart, a little more speed in each stroke.

When those pesky lungs of hers get in her way, being needy and requiring oxygen, she folds her arms against the pool's edge and leans against the floor, floating as she pauses to breathe. She's less likely to interrupt anyone already swimming with more than an acknowledging nod—she knows that no one likes having their groove interrupted. Anyone lingering outside the water, though, gets a grin, but she pauses to pant before she calls to them.
] Hey, the water's great!

C: Afternoon (Prosper Bluff)
[No Skyway trip can be made without adequate preparations: lunch and stretches, mostly. Today, Aoi's going to set out alone—unusual for her, but she's only going to Prosper Bluff, and she doesn't intend to go far enough to lose sight of the bridge back, so she'll be fine.

Anyone in the area is sure to find her doing something ridiculous: climbing up too-tall plants, attempting to outrun small swarms of Peckers with surprising success, leaping up and down and across crags and crevasses, and generally finding all sorts of new ways to make a quiet spot into a precarious exercise routine. At least she's confident in herself..?

No matter what she's in the middle of, even if she's breathless or there are monsters right behind her, she always has a smile to spare for anyone in sight.
] Hi there!

D: Early evening/sunset (volleyball court)
[What, was all that activity supposed to tire her out or something? Not a chance.

After her return from the Skyway, Aoi takes some time to decompress with dinner—and then she heads right back outside, a volleyball from her closet tucked under her arm. The court has barely gotten any use since she's built it!

Instead of leaving things at a friendly greeting, Aoi waves down anyone at all in shouting distance as they pass by.
] Hey! Hey, come play a match with me! [Beaming, she holds the volleyball over her head and even jumps in place.]

E: Late Night (shrine)
[But in spite of all that, she can't sleep.

She spends some time rolling over and over in bed but without any luck. Despite that she's made it a point to squeeze every last drop of energy she can out of herself today, she can't even force herself to so much as pretend that she's tired. Her own thoughts are too loud; they keep her awake.

Some nights are worse than others. She hasn't figured out why.

Being antsy gets the better of her. She shimmies into her shorts and throws her favorite sweatshirt on over her pajama tank top, ties up her hair, and creeps out of her apartment, downstairs, and across the Bastion. For once in her life, she even manages to be quiet; no one else's sleep should be disturbed because of her.

Only after she makes it to the shrine does she realize she hasn't a clue what to do there. What did she want to find here? What did she expect?

Lost in thought, she stands in the room's center, gazing off at nothing at all.

[It might be difficult to notice the distinction, but Zuko's been more down than usual the past couple of days. She doesn't brighten any at Aoi's greeting, though she does stop to respond.]

You're playing kuai ball?

Only if that's the same game.

[She realizes Aoi is probably going to talk her into a game either way, but that might not be so bad. It's something sort of familiar, right?]

...you hit the ball over the net, and score when your opponent can't hit it back. Sound right?

... All right.

[Zuko walks over to the court, taking up her position on one side of the net.]

[Most of Zuko's experiences with this game have involved her sister, so no, nothing Aoi does will match that level of potential injury.

Moreover, she's actually pretty good at this game, and lunges forward to return the ball. Maybe winning will improve her mood? Doubtful, but it's not like Zuko not to give something her all.]

[She probably could have though I mean yes. Skills.

It does feel good to be moving. And moving may be an understatement, as Zuko is both fast and acrobatic in how she plays, and in no way above sliding halfway across the court to save the ball with her foot.

Aoi can certainly manage to score some points against her, but she's not making it easy.]

[Zuko does take a moment to catch her breath before answering.]

So are you. That was... nice.

["Fun" may not be in her vocabulary, but "nice" is still high praise coming from Zuko. She's a little more relaxed, too, maybe.]

[Zuko just gives her a wry look as she pulls her hair back into some semblance of order. Aoi you and your teams.

The next question surprises her though. Why should she be getting concern?]

Of course. It's nothing I can't handle.
