At the Bastion part 1: Zahi

[A few hours after everyone going to the lagoon or the camp has left, Zahi can be found in the distillery, nursing a black eye. He's got a damp cloth on it right now, but ice would probably be better.

[Anya was already here, because imbibing a little alcohol before they're attacked and potentially killed seems like a good idea.]

[So compassionate. She's not even speaking to Zahi directly, that's how much she doesn't care about his injury.]

[Zahi just chuckles and waves off Ibuki.]

Nah, save it, I'll be fine. If things go south today, someone else might end up needing that healing.

Nate doesn't hit that hard anyway, I barely even felt it.

He does have a history of getting into fistfights with Ura, and situations like this tend to foster infighting anyway.

True, true! I never thought he'd pick a fight with me, though.

It was over the silliest thing, too. I was just askin' him abut the amulets, and if he can fine-tune the translating on them. See, I figured this whole 'first son' thing is just a name problem, with the name being translated literally, and if he tinkered with the translating it would fix that and we would hear this schemer's name.

If what you were asking would out him, it would give him plenty of reason to protest.

I mean, punching people isn't the best way to avoid suspicion, but people panic.

[Zahi just laughs that off.]

Nah, that can't be true. As far as I know, 'Nathaniel' doesn't mean 'first son'. Unless it's a pseudonym or something...

Say, do you think you could ask him about it? It might just be that he hates Ura, so if you ask him to do the same thing he might not be so suspicious. I'd like to think that Nate isn't the one causing trouble for us.

We might be thinking about this the wrong way... it might not be a translation bug at all??

... but um, if it is him and he gets all angry, Ibuki doesn't wanna end up with a black eye, too! Or worse!!

[Zahi just sighs. Zulf will make a mess of this, he is sure of it.]

There was just a little spat, that's all. We're just tryin' to figure out what's goin' on.

Speaking of which, don't go askin' Nate if he's the 'first son' that's causing all this trouble. Just ask him if he can fix the translator.

[Zahi is right to be a little worried, because Zulf's eyes do get a bit darker and he does look like he's ready to track Nate down to throw something at him. However, his gaze flickers to the older Ura and he seems to struggle himself back into calmness. Got to look calm and mature for his future step-father I mean]

For him to get worked up over something like that... [Well, it's suspicious, that's obvious.] I think it's clear he wouldn't accept a drink from any Ura, and Ibuki, well, you're delightfully excitable-

So out of the people here, Anya, you're the least suspicious if booze is really the route to take trying to figure out what's gotten into him. I'd try to talk with him if we didn't have our... differences.

Whaaat? We're probably reeeaaally close to figuring out who First Son is, something Ibuki's been wondering about way back when it's first come up from Zero-chan, and Ibuki gets left out at the climax?!?!
